Hi guys,

im new to the sc-mapmaker scene because i want to do a roleplay-campaign and i got some questions. would be glad if you could help me out here:

1. is there any possibilty to change spells and abilties of units? for example giving psi storm to jim raynor? which editor could i use for this?

2. can i use player 9, 10 and 11 active in the game as allied computer players or rescuable persons?

3. is there a possibilty to export scripts, unit data etc. which i could import to a new map?

4. do you know some way to create new units? f.e. i need a special photon cannon which does more damage than the original one, but i dont want to change the original, cause i need them too. any way to do this?

thanks in advance :)

1. With map editing, no. With modding, yes.

2. No, you can't. They will always be hostile towards you, though they won't be able to attack (they'll follow) and they can't be made rescuable.

3. Not with map editting.

4. You could use modding to achieve this. If you don't want to do modding, depending on your map's circumstance, you could use upgrade differences for different players to achieve this.

Most maps use them as Neutral computers, of course, you can't use AIs on them, but you can order them, have your players ally them, and use them for most basic things.

Try this program, it lets you import data from one map to another(not sure if that's what you meant) however, you can't transfer unit settings with it, unfortunately.

Not really possible with photon cannons, but if you have a unit that has a hero equivalent you can use the hero as if it's the same unit, just stronger.

I'm not 100% if this works, but you could give it a try. For your question about the photon cannon, if you want them both owned by computers, then have 2 computers, one to control the strong one and another computer to control the normal one plus all the other buildings. If you go into the Upgrades tab of Scmdraft, you'll find a tab below the races called Unused. If you open that the click the very bottom Unused Upgrade, you can change the default for the computer that you want the extra cannon damage to go to. Then go to the photon cannon damage in the unit settings and fill in the "bonus" damage per upgrade. Note, however, changing that Unused upgrade will do other things as well, such as increasing worker, infested terran, turret, scourge, sunken, and spore damage. It also grants building armor. Psionic storm will also be much more powerful.

First of all you seem to have wc3 mapping in mind, so I have to tell you that you will have to forget about all your fancy ideas. Many of them can only be done with modding because sc is several years less sophisticated.

1. see Kaia's post

fix'd.
And you can simulate rescuing by centering a location on them and give them to any player that walks into that location. Give doesn't show these nice circles and sounds but that could be simulated by playing a transmission with no text.

3. see Falkoner's post

4. you could stack photon cannons in the editor. This method only works with buildings though.

Keep in mind that this basically limits you to single player (or get some friends to download your mod and play with them) as in b.net nobody can player your mod. It needs an altered .exe.

TheHappy115 -- Yea, thats the issue. Thanks. It would also explain why my deleted map couldn't get updated. Updated version reduced collision on units (only thing added) since was dodging game (players collide with each other)

Ultraviolet -- If so, I'd just focus on getting them on scmscx.com and then you can link to that in the showcase thread for your maps

Ultraviolet -- I can't upload my EUD maps, I think the DLDB has some issue with handling them. Are you trying to upload EUD maps?

TheHappy115 -- Its been awhile but ever since I requested one of the Maps I posted to be deleted since I couldn't delete it myself (or update it), I haven't been able to upload any more maps. Any reason for that?
