In all seriousnes I think sonic > mario

First of all, Paper mario is AN AMAZING GAME, I dare say it was the best mario game I've played after SMB3. Never played Mario Sunshine, though.
Mario owns because almost all of the games with mario are fun, addictive and highly interactive and almost always introducing something new in them. However what makes mario games a bit of a failure is the lack of a good decent storyline. Almost all mario games are like "OMG I R A OH GAWD GIANT TURTLE OF SOME KIND AND I HAVE THE PRINCESS WHICH IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO YOU BUT YOU MUST SAVE HER, YOU PLUMBER BOY!" oh yeah and did I mention she only says thanks to you in letters...?
That is why Paper Mario was such an awesome game, because it involved way more than just saving the princess. You had alternate quests, badges to collect that would benefit you in power too and skills, you had recipes to make, stars to collect, party members, it's actually a bit joyful how you interact with the characters you usually kill in other mario games. Oh god, I wanna play this game right now.

I find the Sonic storylines a bit more "rich", yes you always had to beat the crap out of something that looked like an egg, but the environment overall was nicer. I was playing it again a while ago and I was shocked at how crazy the storyline actually was (for a game THAT old). This dude made the emerald island fly so that no one would scape his wrath, then you had to climb up a really high cliff only to discover it wa sbeing destroyed and you got, somehow, rescued by a fox in a aeroplane (wtf?) and went to a mortal spaceship that would take you to space (wow?) and then when you beat the bad guy there's this really impresive scene of the death egg exploding in space and falling down to earth. Plus sonic bosses are usually more win (in concept), you fight a robotic you, tons of machinas and sometimes you even fight your own brother!

P.S. Sonic 3D was really bad. Sonic died with the genesis and sonic spinball was also a pretty bad boring game.

The sonic bosses were awesome, but, in the earlier games, it was the same guy for every battle, Robotnik.

Also, you fight Metal Sonic way too many times too!


Both games have their own little repetitive themes.

Also, what game do you fight Sonic's brother in? Is it Manic from the show Sonic Underground?

I have the image of sonic fighting knuckles in the first part of the game of sonic & knuckles. Knuckles was possesed or something.

Sonic is crap: they made a video-game about Sonic and a sword: that's not what Sonic used to be ages ago. Shame on you, Sonic.

For Mario I only can say: he never did anything wrong.

I do not know about possessed. According to the comics and across the different shows, Dr. Robotnik tricks Knuckles into thinking that Sonic stole the Master Emerald when really Robotnik took it.

Knuckles is not Sonic's brother, nor is he a hedgehog. Knuckles is a echidna. You can find this out by reading the instruction manual that came with the third game, but it is also mentioned once by Rogue the Bat in Sonic Adventure 2.
"Keep your crystals, they smell like echidna anyway!" -Or something along those lines.

Looking at the originals, all Sonic is was a much faster Mario clone.

I prefer Mario, because Plumbers > Hedgehogs.

I didn't get the instruction manual because it was a borrowed game that ended up being mine cause the other guy lost my game
It was still awesome to watch them fight against each other.
