Whoa, I love your take on someone who must learn their art because of their body's limitation. You have a great start on the character.

A couple things I would revise:

First of all, rework the intro to give mention to his place of origin: The Arcane Plane. As of right now, it sounds like he could be from Earth. It might also be cool to elaborate a bit more about how exactly he came to possess his powers.

Secondly, you are missing a key part: How he became a hero, and why he is here. Don't forget that since he is not in the Human world, he isn't limited by humans characteristics and humans norms such as having a job and earning money. Overall, the story needs a little more emphasis on magic.

Finally, the spell descriptions are a bit iffy, but that's okay because I can change the minor details when I edit.

I really like your take on how he got his powers though, very thoughtful of you. This story has a lot of potential to be added.

After reading that story, i wonder. What happens when illusionist dies while in beast form?


EDIT: Story on crimson wolf will likely be up somewhere from tomorrow - wednesday. Planning to work on it during lunch/free time at school, which i have a fair bit of.

Anything specific you want in it?

Just make sure you relate it to his place of origin. Also make sure you give us some details and cover all the bases especially about the even that caused him to be a hero.



EDIT: Oh man, I just got done fixing up my last check box (artifacts) by adding a condition to every single trigger pertaining to it. I have also set up the basic triggers for my Life Tracking / Respawn System, so all I need to do now is some intense copy-pasting for ~250 triggers. That will happen tonight when I get home from school.

UPDATES:

So after work today I realized that I had to adjust my hp scaling system to accommodate two of my heroes that were exceptions to the normal process. After regretting the fact that I made the heroes more complex than a typical AoS, I quickly wrote 63 triggers to make things good. I then proceeded to finish the structure of my Respawn system. (Life tracking is done, but that's only half the check box.) Now I just need to copy and past ~70 triggers til I can put this POS check box where it belongs. To anyone anticipating the map: this is one big step towards it's completion.

I will update the OP when I finish my current task, and also after I get some Chinese food to eat.


p.s. ^^ are you working to revise that ILLUSIONIST story? (@ flying pigs)

It will be updated until the point where I think it is as close to perfection as I can get it.

Of course, if it's as big of a success as I'm hoping, I'll probably end up updating it forever.

EDIT: I have also purposely set my systems up so that I can edit anything in my map easily, so no bugs or imbalances should be big enough for me not to be able to kill them.

The Illusionist has been revised, but it's all on a word 2007 doc, so i need my other comp to access it.
Along with that, I have made the Psychopath's story, although that is on paper and needs to be typed.
I'll be doing creature of mist after (if anyone else wants to do it, call it now b4 i get started!).

School is kinda boring, so I've been writing the stories in classes :D

Ohh nice. I appreciate you helping me along with stories. It would suck if I had everything done, but no back stories and that was preventing the beta from coming out lol. Don't forget to use the semi-provided back stories in the opening post when messing with Psychopath and Creature of mist. Those are two characters who I want to be associated with the things that I have listed.

Also, if you are confused about what any spells are, you can ask here or PM me to help you get a better understanding. Don't be shy.


In other news: I have completed another check box today, and I have fixed a very old one that needed 63 triggers to be brought up to date. I am contemplating on what system to start on next. If I have time tonight, I am going to do some private testing for the new system, and maybe take some screenshots. I will update the OP once I finish with that.

EDIT: I am considering expanding on my Sand Box mode a little bit by allowing players to choose the strength of enemy spawns to practice their builds against. This would take an estimated half hour to an hour to implement. Anyone see this being of any use to them? Or should I not even bother?

The psychopath's story is based off of: "He is called "Psychopath" - created an underground organization used to bring down a corrupt political power that ruled over a large amount of the human population. His skin is burned, but it's not from magic: it's from explosives. Gunpowder, Napalm, you get the idea." The story revolves around the united earth's government becoming corrupt, and the psychopath bombs their main building. In the end, to save many people who rebelled with him, he turns him self in. A few days later, he sets off an explosive in his body, destroying something important (cant remember what i wrote). Although he body is dead, his will to help others lives on to be born into another.

I'd like if you could adjust the spawns in sandbox, it'd help me a lot. Also, If you could add 100% life and mana switches (100% of their current maximum), to heal you anywhere. And insta get any artifact, and get max skill points to use. And allow allies to unally/vission each other, so they can fight 1v1 and test out their heros. Toggle able day/dusk/night. (although I'm guessing you have done a few of these already)

EXCELLENT suggestions. Currently, I'm planning on having people gain 1 stat point every time they spend a stat point while in sandbox mode. This way they will never run out, but it will never be crowded as well. I could definitely do Heal anywhere triggers, and restore to max MP anywhere triggers as well. Allowance to mess with alliances and vision: I could probably do that as well, i'll have to experiment. Of course, you have unlimited lives while playing sandbox. I'll add in adjustable spawn levels for enemy spawn. The only thing out of your list that I won't add is the ability to toggle the time of day.

Also, it sounds like your psychopath story is going to turn out to be great.

AND @ everyone else: is there anything specific you'd like to be able to do while in sandbox mode?
