I play best with heroes that have a strong damaging ultimate, like swiftblade and moon queen.

Except both are nullified by the presence of creeps, rendering them useless in most team battles.

True, that is why I gank heroes right before or after the wave comes.

Swiftblade:
Blade Frenzy on creeps, kill dem allz!
Ultimate on nearby hero, then follow up with attacking and hope for some criticals

moon queen:
I hide in the forest until the waves kill themselves, enemy hero is retreating, i launch a moon beam, then ultimate, then another moon beam

I realize the ultimates are useful for 1v1 and ganks, but I said that their ultimates are usually nullified by the presence of creeps during team battles. Which I think is probably one of the more important aspects of winning the game.

well whenever i have a team battle its usually without the creeps. ive been playing noobs only games cause my PSR is at 1333 and i still kinda suck, so whenever theres a team battle, i tell me team to wait until creeps are gone, or when we are attacking, we retreat and the enemy follows. dont know if its just cause they are noobs or not though.

I hope you stopped playing 2v2's, they're not really a good indication of how HoN is balanced.

I get 400 ping sometimes at college. It's random and it makes HoN pretty much the most pointless thing ever to play. So expect to see less of me.

If you don't play AP, what do you play? We also play random draft sometimes, it's really up to whoever is playing. I enjoy random draft more than all pick most of the time, requires more skill to play and pull off.
