I was looking at this laptop. In my point of view, it looks like the computer I've been waiting for. It runs the game I want it to run well spec-wise. I don't have to deal with a internet cards because generally laptops have great internet cards/wifi support. It has the number keys on the side. I really won't care if it's bulky.

My only problem is that the laptop is out of my budget. My price range is at 500-600 dollars, but if this really is a good computer for it's price, I'll buy it.

So does anyone have a better laptop recommendations or can anyone support/object to the laptop above?

Thank you in advance. My summer is going to waste and I need a new computer fast.

The sword and the faith

Desktops are ALWAYS better for a budget under 800$. Ill get you one ASAP, hold on.

The PSU isn't too beefy but this build doesn't have high power requirements. The HDD is also pretty small by today's standards at 250GB but both of these things can be upgraded at a later time, adding HDDs is easy and PSU replacement, although a bit of a pain, is doable. The processor is an E5200 which can overclock like a monster in a room with nice cool temps even with the stock cooler. The motherboard is a top notch ASUS and should be able to suit you well even if you upgrade everything else.

Oh and all the SATA DVD drives were out of stock, and I refuse to pay 30$+ for one just because it's a burner. So that's why one's not included here. Also this is assuming you have keyboard/mouse/monitor around. If not the budget would get near impossible.

Can you compare this to your build because I was originally deciding on buying a desktop. I don't know how to put a computer together. My father does but he probably isn't entirely sure either.

This may be an ignorant question, but will your build run CS source/L4D/Crysis well?

Edit: I'm going to have to buy a very compact keyboard since I've been used to my small keyboard on the laptop. I do need a flat screen monitor too. If you can add those two and a good internet card that can work well (about 30-50 feet away from the router) then that would be gravy. Ty.

You have less RAM, worse processor (Tri-cores are worthless unless you get the black edition that unlocks into a quad.), I also wouldn't recommend an OCZ PSU. The case is total shit, and the motherboard is micro-ATX which you NEVER use for a gaming rig.

CSS/L4D/Crysis should run fine, but don't expect max settings on Crysis, but you probably knew that already.

You will NOT be able to fit your budget with a monitor, LCD or otherwise. The keyboard and wireless card would probably add another 40-65$.

Edit: Wireless card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315041

As for keyboards, I'll leave that to you, much more personal of a choice.

I really don't care for monitors so I'm going to grab this one with your build + the wireless card. I'll stretch my pockets alittle more to get all of these. Thank you very much, now it's time to get on my knees and ask lol.

Edit:
This is the wishlist of all the things excluding keyboard and mouse.

It sounds like you really want a notebook, Tehdarkm, from your first post. The only problem is you won't really get any sort of gaming performance at that level. I would check out ibuypower.com for pricing as well. I'm not sure what that build comes out to be on Newegg, but for $600, I was able to fit in 4 Gb of Ram, a Radeon 4850, and even a copy of Windows with ibuypower. It's definitely worth checking out at that price range, especially if you don't really want to build your own system. The only thing is that Newegg probably has cheaper shipping (they have free shipping on most items, it seems like, at least a lot of the time).

I really do want a notebook. The last notebook I used had a problem that I'm still trying to fix. The portability with it and it's performance at the time was great. However, I do want something that I can tweak with and modify overtime and notebooks aren't the type that you can switch up.

Off topic: I tried to reformat my laptop. Everytime I try to install the OS, a blue screen pops up saying that the computer couldn't detect any HDDs on my laptop. I bought a new HDD, but the same thing still popped up. If you have any advice please post them. Thank you.

Some Windows installations don't have proper drivers on-disc for SATA drives. As far as I know this was supposedly fixed, depending on how new the disc you're using is. You may have to go into the BIOS and switch the HDD to IDE mode.

I don't see that option of changing HDD to IDE mode.

Then your BIOS probably doesn't have the option.

It does not. People have told me to take apart my laptop to see if there's any faulty wiring or unplugged stuff. I got as far as to looking at the sticks of ram. Also, I am using an old most likely boot legged windows xp OS disk...

I check ibuypower.com. It's a very neat sight I might add. Everything is organized and there are alot of eye candy stuff.

You will need to make an XP disc with the SATA drivers slipstreamed onto the disc. I think nLite was one of the programs that could do this. Of course, first you will need to get a package containing the SATA drivers for your laptop and get them extracted somewhere. I know of people who have done this and had it working, but I have never actually tried doing it myself (on my own computers, they've either supported IDE mode on the SATA or I was installing Vista, which already includes SATA drivers).

Here's a little guide on slipstreaming the SATA drivers using nLite.

Hey guys, I actually got my laptop to work before I started payment on the computer build. I actually went through my fathers CD room and after 3 side's of the room, I found a Gateway OS vista disk. It worked! Thank you for the help.

I'm going to go more off topic again. Is there anyways to lower me CPU Usage % and Physical Memory % ? Also, I was told to not turn off my computer because the automatic updates are useless. Currently, there is over 38 processes going on atm. This is the reason why I didn't want to get Vista.
