I am creating a RPG based on a city that has fallen into disrepair and is overrun by zombies, etc.
It is like a fantasy/tech city, and I don't really know which tileset is good.

I've seen some epic cities in Badlands (Falkoner) and I've seen some cool blends in Jungle.
If you were me, which one would you pick?

Well, some of the options are pretty obvious to not be used, but they are there for the heck of it.

EDIT: Fail 1 - No space.

The sword and the faith

Probably badlands due to its city-like terrain.

Just here for the activity... well not really

Why isn't space there? :P

But badlands anyway.

Just here for the pie

I said Badlands (due to lack of Space) because it's the most city-appearing tileset. However, you requested one that's high-tech, so Space would've been my true choice.

Rory had a gallery of a Space city, it looked cool, but my only question is how zombies survive in space?

But to pull that off for an entire map would be tough to do. First off, you'd run out of sprites. Second off, the sidewalks take up a lot of units. Cannot Create More Units would happen frequently, especially in a zombie map.

Hello

I love Jungle, cause of it's uncountable doodads.
But badlands isn't far from it.

Who voted Ashworld?

Basically I'm trying to decide between Jungle and Badlands now.

Jungle has more medieval structures and doodads, and is a bit more... green. It is better suited for fantasy storylines.

Badlands is more modern and urban, but a lot of sprites/units are used.

I'd chose between Space and Badlands if I were you. Choose badlands for I'M ON A FRICKING ROCK FLYING THROUGH SPACE or space for IM ON A FRICKING PLATFROM FLYING THROUGH SPACE

I would personally do jungle since it seems a lot cleaner per se then badlands and it is also easier to manipulate, in my opinion.

Badlands, cos basically you still will have asphalt in the future for a while at least. I hope this doesn't end up looking liek my RPG tho...

Badlands with 500 sprites is a great way to do a run down city, and the metal structure look is something you won't get in jungle. You will need to use the sprites frequently, though, which may be an issue. You'll be hard pressed to work it out in a 256/256 map without any large areas done without sprites, but for the space you do have, it will look great. You can really get that planescape torment / arcanum feel with proper sprite usage, though only in small bits.

What i would do is make a 128 x 128 map with lots of places but less town that way you would use less sprites on towns and it would all work out nicely. So its all balanced.

Well there's only 33ish sprites, and you could ditch the sidewalk.

Space should be a choice :) You can create pretty damn cool cities with out any doodads in space, and you could totally fit that into some story like deadspace or bioshock, theres a deep space station colony that gets overun by zombies!

But anyway, you can get around the side walk use too, i was working on that one time and it works pretty well.
