Hey guys. It's been ages since I touched the map editor, but recently I found my StarCraft disk again and decided to fire up the good ol' staredit. This map is just a basic movie map detailing some basic Protoss history - the Aeon of Strife. I also used this map as an opportunity to practice my sound editing. You'll notice that I tried to replace the Protoss death animations with those of a Terran civilian since that blue after-glow is actually the Protoss teleporting to a safe haven, and since the Protoss were at a stone-age level during the strife this mechanic isn't supposed to exist. Basically, my goal with this map was to overdo the "epic" as much as possible. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy. You don't have to do anything in this map, just sit back & watch. Feel free to shoot back any suggestions/feedback.

Just here for the activity... well not really
I liked it. It was very professional.
Few problems though, like that huge cliff thingy is blocky and can be fixed.

Short, but sweet. I thought the death triggers for the zealots was kind of odd, though.

i must say i didn't make much sense of this. You did have some cool effects as the xel'naga flew away but other then that i wasn't very impressed. For a 6mb download i expected a full-length movie haha.
One thing i would suggest for future reference is, to not force the viewer to have to scroll along with the massive armies, so i would suggest a fixed centerview that follows the armies as they watch the xel'naga fly away. Good job for someone who hasn't touched the editor in awhile i guess.

That link is to a big mass of characters for me.
Might be a map in text form, but I doubt I'll find it too exciting in text. -.-

I think I need to clarify something: 90% of this stuff is adapted from a book called the Dark Templar Saga: Firstborn, which discusses the Aeon of Strife. So I guess it makes sense that you didn't make much sense of this.
However, if there are any confusing points, just let me know.
Here's a few clarifications though:
1) Ihan'Ri = Xel'Naga
2) The guy that says "you are the reason they abandonded us" randomly dies in a spray of blood. In actuality he was supposed to die by getting a rock thrown at his head. I tried to illustrate this by having the 2 Protoss step forward and him explode. Any other suggestions or should he just die normally?
3) Other than Ramaar, these are just random Protoss talking to one another. Would it be better if I gave them some made-up names?

Well, like I said, it's just a basic movie map. I tried to go by what I read in the book, so it's more of an issue of "what exactly can I do here?"

The original file was 40 mb, but I got it down to 6 and now 5. However, the audio quality suffers.

Try to "save link as" in your browser.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

I appreciate you taking the time to give an explanation to the storyline. It makes more sense when i know more about the who and whys of the map.

Gradius, for the rock just create a scarab where the two zealots are and have it target the other.
Watched the movie, it seemed very good but stopped right when I was expecting there to be some sort of interesting fight. It really doesn't seem very trigger intensive at all.

your topic says Aeon of stife, i was expecting a parody but alias just bad spelling awaited...

Great movie map. I like how you took the time to show effects and etc. Who did the voicing?

Well I just tried to download it and all i got was a link to a bunch of weird letters, and then my browser proceeded to crash.
That being said, I would very much like to see this it sounds awesome, and Im interested to see your take since I read the Dark Templar book too. Maybe you could post it again on my movie map topic
