Blaaaaaaaand. I don't know if you just haven't done decor yet, but it's horribly undecorated. Mains seem huge and oddly shaped.

Try and work on decorating your maps, even if you plan on changing features. It'll make you better at decorating overall if you do it over and over again.

I think decorations are overrated. You don't have to decorate your map if you don't want to, because obviously I can't seem to notice the difference between a decorated map and non-decorated map when I'am playing melee, I don't see why it should matter at all.

The casual player does. And I doubt anyone more than a casual player will end up playing his maps (no offense intended) :P

What do you mean by 'the casual player'. If you mean anyone can notice decorations while they're trying to look upside down hotkeying back and forth trying to look for nothing of sprites but opponents build orders, and busy trying to micro while trying to pump units- I'd never ever notice if the map isn't decorated. You wouldn't notice unless you're sitting around doing nothing. Are you trying to sum up that a casual player is a complete noob?

All I can say; I like this :)

IMO it looks too T favoring, considering how utterly tankable everything is. You also have THE GAS ISSUE. And now that I look at it more I notice that the main is HUGE.

Not necessarily a complete noob, but like, say you attended mod night. I bet you at least 50% of the people there don't even hotkey their unit groups. That's the kind of casual player I mean.

So I'm not a noob, I just play at a casual level? That boosted my confidence like 5 points

This looks like a fun map for 2v2. Nice job and fun concept :) I hope you can find some players willing to try it out.

PS: Nobody, even 'casual players' (I'm a casual player), really notice decoration in game. It's more important for broadcasted games, or if you're watching the replay it might add something. Other than that, it's totally meaningless and people give it way to much emphasis. It's fun for mappers and obs, it's irrelevant to players. Half the time 'deco' only looks good on the jpeg anyway.

PPS: IMO casual players are just people who don't grind games on iCCup or anything like that. They don't train and they don't particularly care about being the best SC player they can be. It doesn't mean that they're so unfamiliar with StarCraft that they don't know the hotkeys, or common shortcuts, or little glitches and tricks. I mean, maybe if you're talking about casual gamers in general, for whom never play one game longer than a month... But those are the people who only play single player campaign StarCraft and then quit... I guess it's a very personal definition I have :) But some people complain that I'm not willing to put in the grind to get really good, and I just say "you're right, I'm not," because I play on occasion for fun. I will never be the type of person who plays iCCup everyday for an extended period of time. I'll spend a whole night playing a friend, or with a group of people, and that's why I'm not totally awful at SC, but I just can't commit myself to grind 500 games with people I don't know or like.

I'm entirely too lazy and uninterested to bother investing that much work into melee. The same goes for people I play melee with. I have time enough to look at pretty graphics. Hell, if pretty graphics were useless, mods would never take half so long to complete as they do ;P

Despite the above-mentioned, and the fact that, quite incidentally, I indeed am a "complete noob" in terms of melee skill, I use hotkeys all the bloody time. >.> Like, addicted.

Guess we can call me "Nobody". ... perhaps you're speaking for too many people.

I think you're lying, or just fooling yourself. It likely wouldn't ruin your day if you were playing a map with deco, or without. Typically one is too concentrated on the game, whether they're extremely good or bad at StarCraft. Unless you're like... I don't know, just staring at the screen for long periods of time... Most of the time, deco in pro maps or 'high level' BWMN maps typically looks ugly if you look right at it for too long, even though it looks very good and convincing if you only see it for second... Even with regular deco, if you look long enough you can see the square matrices that make up every tile.

I mean... no one complained maps were ugly when they were playing maps with zero or very little deco, like Nostalgia, or Blade Storm, or even LT. It's just a touch that doesn't matter to someone who is concentrated on beating their opponent (which no, you don't need to be a non-casual gamer to do, you just need to have a penis and an ego).

Chef.... your my hero. and i completely back you up right now. 100% Decor is extremely overrated and goes by so frequently unnoticed. Moreover, it generally gets in the way of ground troops and buildings.
