History 'n' shit: Tiras was formerly a barony of a larger kingdom. However, due to religious persecution, over-taxation, and otherwise general jackassery of the former monarchy, Tiras and a few smaller provinces eventually declared independence from the monarchy, forming an alliance with the intent of becoming their own nation.
This pissed the King right off.
The ensuing war lasted for around 20 years, and though most of it's allies were crushed, Tiras, Elos, and Arun claimed victory, and the old kingdom was royally pwnt, eventually collapsing from this and other problems. As the last major battle ended and his father died of his wounds, now-Baron Daelan Tiras II has been charged with modernizing what expanded to become the Republic of Davor.
Political: Since becoming another tyrannical monarchy was basically the last thing they wanted, Davor become a constitutional republic with 85 people-elected (excluding the Baron) represenatives spread across the three states. The Baron, despite retaining his title, functions as a sort of hereditary president. However, the Baron may be ousted if the overwhelming majority (~80%) dislike him, at which point a new one is elected. Similarly, the Baron can depose a member of the Senate if the vast majority of the Senate agrees.
As the Baron's an agnostic, like his father, and the nation has been largely disillusioned by the opression of the former Church, religious influence in the Republic is at an all time low, with most of the nation being athiest or agnostic. However, minorities of other religions still exist within the nation, and thus freedom of religion is a constitutional right within the nation's borders.
Economy: Capitalist. The government tries to provide all citizens with opportunities, and pays fairly on the open market. Taxation is mild to moderate.
Cities(totally ripping off viet's format here):
Capital: Tiras; Population: About 1,600,000. Oh, and a little to the north-east, please.
-Hosts the University of Davor, and is the political and scientific center of the nation.
-Also hosts the Baron's castle, a polygonal fortress designed to withstand siege weapons.
Largest City: Arun; Population: About 2,000,000; the economic center of Davor enjoys trade with Doodania and Kievan Rus.
Major Exports: Wood, Stone, Precious Metals
Major Imports: Steel, TBA
Other Major Cities:
Elos; Population: About 1,200,000
-The agricultural center of the nation.
-The training center for Davor's light cavalry and fearsome Bear Cavalry troops.
-Home to nearby Fort Parth
Dimos; Population: About 1,850,000
-The mountain city of Dimos is home to the nation's largest industries; lumberjacking and mining.
Rhus; Population: About 850,000
-This fortress city trains and barracks most of Davor's military forces.
Military: Davor maintains a military force of around 75,000. Being a landlocked nation, they have no navy to speak of, save for fishing and trade vessels on the rivers that lace the country. However, they have a sturdy and robust infantry force, a smallish division of light cavalry, and the Davor Bear Cavalry Corps; tougher than horses, much more capable of ripping your face and limbs off, and strong enough to carry two (or in rare cases, three) soldiers, but somewhat slower than conventional horse cavalry. However, they're perfect for fighting in their homeland, where much of the land is forested and maneuverability of faster units is limited. Siege weapons are used primarily for defense, but most armies bring along some cannons for battering fortifications.
Military research is investigating rocket and balloon technologies.
Foreign affairs: Davor tries to maintain a close relationship with Doodania and Kievan Rus, it's two closest neighbors. Other than that, it has little outside contact, as it's northern mountains effectively block off lands to the north and east.
I think that's everything. Also, flag/map to come when I draw them up!
