It wouldn't necessarily need to run more than once, for base ten, you can just copy each level 9 times, so have 9 ones, 9 tens, 9 one hundreds, of course, that's already 27 triggers to transfer 999 instantly, when in binary it would only take 10 triggers to transfer up to 1024 in a single loop.
