Let me show you how to hump without making love.
Completely new to the subject and the SiteBuilders blow ass.
Was curious if anyone would be interested in designing a website with me, I'll send the information via PM if anyone would like to learn more information about it. Basically, it's going to be a forum with a lot of graphically intense hoobajooba. I can do the images myself if you are more of a coder than anything and that's completely fine with me, as I know my way around an image editor.
Thanks.

People will probably want more information about the website and all if they're going to devote time to it. Are you a coder or a graphic artist (kind of vague in the post)? What will the purpose of the website be? Will the software be custom-coded, or something like phpBB or SMF?
Anyway, if you want someone to commit to this, you'll probably want to provide a lot more info.

Are you intending to have a read-only site, or one that the users can interact with and change things on the site? This will decide which host you have to use, whether it's a complete server deal, or something like Google Sites, also, I would highly recommend looking into basic HTML and CSS at
W3 Schools if you plan on doing any coding yourself.

Basically, I am combining the idea of an Open Source Mapping site and the concept of SEN Observer, together. I want to make a very informative site, with an interactive wiki and the like. I am currently paying an assload of money for the site because I had someone to design the site. However, this man bailed and is no longer my friend as I have already spent 60$ for it.
I have 200gb of space, 2tb of bandwidth and unlimited... Everything. The server runs on Linux and is very sturdy from what the previous jackass told me.
The full intention of this site is not to try and compete with SEN, but for a viable alternative. If all else fails, I am just looking for a stable mapping site with virtually unlimited resources. Currently, I have no plans to incorporate map hosting into the site, but it is a possible venture.

Well, if you want something that's custom-coded like SEN, that'll cost you a few hundred dollars (at least). If you want, you can use a Content Management System (CMS), which essentially allows you to customize it and all to an extent, add forums, etc. This is free, but generally slow (to load; not very slow, but not as fast as SEN, probably. It's fast to set up) and you won't reach SEN's flexibility... ever.
I don't recommend trying to create an 'alternative' to SEN, really. The only one that kicked off was Maplantis, but Maplantis was an awesome website and something I really doubt you'll match. And it was headed by Yoshi and LegacyWeapon, who... won't be leading your alternative. If you're bent on doing something, look at e107, Joomla or those other CMSs.

Yeah I agree. Don't waste your time unless you're coding something intrinsically useful. Like me. :3
