wth is starcraft

Due to the..."overwhelming" turn out for NaNoWriMo, I felt that naturally I should post a link for Screnzy to see how many people were interested in doing it. The idea is to write a script of 100 pages in the thirty days of April. Last year, I failed miserably...but after I've won NaNo two years in a row, I feel confident this year.

I think more of you will be interested in this, because you can write a script for any format, including graphic novels. So you could really write a script as a movie and use it to base a map around.

Anyways, if you're interested here's some links:
Script Frenzy Homepage : Basic information and sign up can be found here. You don't have to sign up to take part, but it obviously makes it more fun. There's local groups and interest groups, and there's a wide range of support and help offered by the community.

Celtx : This is an extremely versatile and user friendly pre-production, open source program. It allows you to choose what type of script you're writing - as every script has a different format, ie compare a play script to a movie script. It also has areas dedicated to character development, and actor guidelines. I love this program. I know there are other programs out there, but this one seemed to serve me well in the past, when I've written play scripts.

How To Guides : Alright, this is located on Screnzy's website, and has a set of easy to understand guides and examples of how to write different types of scripts. Seriously you could pop one of these open, study it for less than an hour while you're waiting for your porn to finish downloading, and get the basic understanding of how to write a script.

Anyone interested?

Won't be trying this, but wanted to say thx for indirectly linking me to the comic tutorials.

No problem. Celtx also has a storyboard function.

I'm starting to see why you love celtx.

I just wish they made a comic tutorial :(

You might find one online. I find it easier to write scripts in over Word.

also...bump bump

finished my comics pre-preproduction, now starting to use celtix. I like it, the sample scripts definitely help.

Quick Q: Can you change the background color? The blaring white is murder on my eyes.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I'm gonna have to check out Celtx. I use Final Draft and/or Word for my scripts, but that just looks neat.

I looked around and couldn't find anything on changing the blaring white. :( Sorry.

No way I could possibly do this but it sounds very interesting. I'm more interested into just writing stories because of the detail and stuff. If I was going to do anything on there it would be screenplays, why not make a good movie eh? ^_^

also wanted to add I have never typed a hundred pages of a story of any kind and doing it in 30 days? nope xD

None.

Its a bit different to write a one hundred page script over a one hundred page story. The formatting really changes things...it is also for that reason that screnzy is measured in pages, not in words.

OMG! So soon! I'm excited. Too bad none of you noobs are doing it...

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I just might. I'll have some time during work over the next 2 weeks to pull something out.

I found you can buy a 10 dollar add-on to make the background w/e you want.

lol who would buy a program for free and then pay to change the background?

Mar 30 2010, 5:31 pm ClansAreForGays Post #14

Well they don't take donations, so they just give cool little add ons to people that give more than $5
