World of Warcraft

Well, if you don't know who i am, i am an Old old (U) member known as Laps(U), iv also gone under the name KupoNut(U) or Kupo(U). I am currently working on idea's for an upcomming map i am going to make, World of Warcraft. It is going to have all the basics, Mage, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior, Paladin, Shaman, Priest, and im thinking about including death knights but there really gay.

It's going to be a 196x128 map, and is going to have 4 different regions, ( levels 1-12. 12-25, 25-40, 40-60 ) and im going to have it at a 60 max level. I still need more idea's and concepts on what to do. Also you pick your side, horde or alliance, but there can only be 3 on 3 so its even. And ofcourse, each class is going to have its special abilities and weaknesses.

Im debating if i should have extended terrain, because i have not done extended terrain in forever ( since woodenfires help on his crazy rpg )

Here are the basics.

Leveling System
Gateway & Stargate Spell system
World wide pvp ( haha )
Many monsters for leveling
Death system ( turn into a ghost and revive )
Mounts at level 30 ( turn into a vulture but cannot attack )
Items ( thinking on how to do it )
So those are the basics, if you would like to add idea's or help out in any way your more then welcome. Also if you are an extended terrain extremist and would like to do terrain for this that would be wonderful.

Your friendly friend, Poopsiggums @ useast

Actually, maybe you could have "PvP area", where there are heroes (Controlled by the computers) who fight back and forth for dominance over a certain stretch of territory?

Just here for the pie

The only problem I can see with having six players is that there's really no computer for both faction (IE: Town guards, etc.). There could be ways around this, by having all towns owned by the same computer, and when a player is near their faction's towns the computer allies them, but when in enemy territory the towns are enemies with them. It's a bit of a stretch, but it could work. I'm assuming you're having monsters.

(Leveling) Each time you kill something in game, you get kill score. Check this kill score, assign exp/gold/items, then clear it. The kill scores for some units are identical, thus in order to separate them you could make sure that some come in different quantities to ensure that the battle is represented by a unique kill score, and so players don't get credit for the wrong monster kill. Unit kill scores below:

Items are indeed difficult. Deathcounts/virtual storage is the most detailed way to do it where you can have many (text) items. However, despite the awesomeness of using a vs item system, I think it is easier to have upgrade spots in town. When you go to the upgrade spot you can just "Buy" the next best "weapon" by upgrading. Then you could have physical items be represented by powerps or minerals/vespene units. Then you could have a spot on the map next to your spells actually containing the potions.

Have you ever thought about a save/load system? When you ignore the amount of triggers required to make this work, and think about game play, save/load can make your map a little more permanent. Think about it, Kids will have numbers all over pieces of paper on their desk. People might play it more often with the constant numerical reminders that they write down at the end of the game.

Lil-inferno makes a great point. The towns themselves could be outside of the world map. While on the world map the towns unally you, while in town you are allied. I think his idea will work best if it is done this way. This leaves one free computer, maybe for misc battle tasks, vhp if you plan to use it?

I'm only here because they patched SC1 and made it free.

yeah i thought about that, i was thinking on having all the buildings ( towns ) owned by neutral, and if a player needs to go inside that building then he will use a mutalisk evolve trick and goes inside the building, and all the town wanderer's will be owned by 1 computer player which all players will be allied to.

also that is a very good idea on items, such as if you get a certain weapon / armor it is saved into a box of items that you own and it will add minerals and stats.

Also i thought of an idea where you have a slowing down mechanism ( agility ) and each time you add + agility your player gets faster?

thanks for more ideas, as of right now only the terrain is being worked on ( sadly )

please any more ideas just list them down!
