You could probably use the dropship system or building to command the direction of where the ship would fire. To make it more realistic, you can make it face the direction by ordering it to move to that location but be returned to the original location where it shot from. If you used the shots from aerial combat, it wouldn't look that good. I would use scarabs because it looks more of a missile than any other units in my opinion.

The point is Shocko, those little "minigame" maps are unique concepts. Due to limits, it is difficult to make them into a diplomacy or LotRish. Would be hard to program (EDIT: trigger, whatever you want to call it. Unless if you're a moron, you know what I mean) too. Its kinda difficult to make them into a defense as it would take too much trigger concentration to do it to more than one unit. Thus you have to do it to an RPG to use the concept effectively. See, I'm right. EDIT: Allow me to elaborate. You can only do it with one or two units (per player) When you have one unit, we call it an RPG, or if its short, a mini game. So, all people are doing is getting a mini game, adding a story line, and making it longer. See, I'm even righter now I've explained it. What are you talking about...
There are of course limited amount of possibilities, and yes due to StarCrafts very restricted editing tools, we can't progress much further then we already have, however that doesn't mean "lets turn everything into everythingRPG" I love how you say "Would be hard to program too" when what you are doing is, truth be told, not programming. Sure it has some syntax structure to it and if you use SCMDraft or StarForge you will have to type what you want, but don't expect to go into a real programming language and use "Always" "CountdownTimer" "Deaths" "Accumulate" or "SetDeaths" "SetTimer" "DisplayTextMessage" "RemoveUnitAtLocation" it's not even remarkably close to programming in that sense. And as for the "Due to limits, it is difficult to make them into a diplomacy or LotRish" you can't turn maps into another map and expect them to be unique, diplomacy is the name of a map, it falls under a War/Action theme not its own little category, same with LotRish it's just a mass attack with a few people that have "heros" and you can pwn a few normal guys before you suddenly need to run and heal. I also particuraly love the fact that it's called lotrISH, which means it isn't even Lord of the Rings, it's some knock off that for sure doesn't deserve to be its own category. "See, I'm right" No sir, you are wrong. |

But however wrong I am, however much LotRish maps suck, however bad Diplomacy maps are, they're played on Battle.Net. And I would doubt that you have played any Diplomacy other than 7.7, or perhaps Infinity - which means that you have not played around 95% of the (almost) popular diplomacy maps. EDIT: See, I'm right. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
