6:50: PM, 5/09/09: Long time no see; I've been hard at work adding little systems, characters and perfecting little areas of the game..however i dont think 20 days later i should have some updates worthy, right? Heres what's new
New Select System: Choose Side, then Character( 7 Heroes Done, 1 In thought, 3 Uncommon done, 2 Rare done, 1 in thought)
Capturable Base: Functional but staggered due to location limit.(NEED FIXED)
Retuned Buildings: Location limitations
Started Alien side Base/Buildings/subway
IDEAS: I've been toying with the idea of supply lines, intel units and Morale. Maybe Economy. I'll need alot of help fueling these ideas.

C:The Finale X Counterpart

--------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT
--------------------------------------------------------
-1: I want to create a game with the similarties of the "Aeon of Strife" series but with a 'call-back to RISK' with capturable areas on the battlefield/Troop Morale/intelligence/Supply units, RPG elements of choosing Heroes/Units with special properties that can be leveled up, Hints of GUNSHIP with 2 characters being able to pilot 10 different ships(each Hull different) and a Deeper Player experience for more than just a Kill/Rise/Repeat process. The map is based on the storyline of Finale X but isnt canon with the storyline. It is really racking my mind on alot of the schematics i just mentioned(One main problem is not having enough locations to suit everthing! Thus i have to find new ways to recycle locations) But not only am I troubled with the inner workings but the outer workings: comming up with ideas(Troop morale being my latest)

-2: What im Currently working on: just looking for help, fleshing out the second Base, coming up with the rest of my characters.

-3: Later addition: Troop Morale, supply lines, more quest buildings and maybe retuning of unit hp/attack. perks are in the end and i might not do them at all now...

What I need help on: Naming the Two main forces at which are in combat together

Side 1: good or progessive to the planet
Humans: Come to Tolonis/Terecia in search of freedom. Pulled into war
Nerride: Original species on the planets. Living for thousands of years.
Good Nanodroids: Engel's inventions after the Defected Spun off
Visceras: Godlike entities of pure energy to the Nerride (Brother to Original Ky'rest)
Argus: the Visceras Symbiant Sub-race

side 2: "terrorist" or demoralizing to the planet
Humans: Random Humans aligned with Zephyr or PoC or Nanodroids(rare)
Nerride: A rare Group called the Preservers of Chaos.
Defected Nanodroids: Defected From the group large mass of Modifed Nanodroids. Comes in 4 flavors.
Zephyr: Terrorist Organization Founded for K'yrest Affiliation. Rag-tag Eclectic of Races
Kyrest: Tyrannical Alien Demi-gods who believe they to be the one true Rulers. (Brother to Original Ky'rest)

MENTAL BLOCKS: Who is going to step forward and help me. Locations locations locations.....Gya.

I like the story so far. Sounds good, but I think that if you have some events that are referred to in the game via dialogue, people will feel like there's an actual legend in the story, just to let you know. It's good to refer to how J.R. Tolkein writes his trilogy, and observing how he takes advantage of this sort of... "device" to more easily create a world.

Just a suggestion of mine.

For Combat training, You can have an EUD that detects if a unit is firing (like in Halloween Priest). Every time the unit fires, you can either add ore, or throw in a DC to make each ore unit worth more. (Like 10 shots is 1 ore or something... I'm a bit fuzzy on what you're trying to do, but I think I have it, so let me know if I'm hitting or missing here.)

To not clutter, ill use this post to reply to all of Pyro's posts!
Also, By someone posting, youve unlocked more of the storyline.
EDIT: Its alright, i probably wont use EUD's because that particular PERK in question is so easy to set up. Sorry :( I know ill come back to EUD's later but not at this point in time.

EUDs refer to using a glitch in the Deaths condition to read SC's memory. They're very powerful but have some limits, fuckup on maps, fuckup when Blizzard patches SC (sometimes), fuckup on Linux, fuckup if anyone's using a maphack or something (which can be used as a form of maphack detection), and are somewhat hard to learn/use. There's a tutorial in UMS Assistance.

I'll deffinatly keep EUD's in mind but I wont probably use them in this map until later maybe. D:

Ok... This is really bugging me. I can't post if I don't know the map.
Just give the stats of your map, and quit comparing your map to others that have been made. I never played AoS. I've never played DoTa.
I don't need story at the moment. If you need help with the posting, cough up the information. I don't need storyline, I need stats.
So far, I'm getting the impression that there are 2 forces, constantly pushing eachohter (like TS or a SC tug of war).
These units are constantly spawned. How often is this? Same Unit? Controlled by human or computer? Heroes? What are the Humans playing the role as?
Not just these questions, but answer any thing that you may think is relevent to the map itself.

Alright. . .im a little speechless but im going to just look passed it.

Heres the schematics of the map, PYRO682:
4 Players, 4 Computers. at the load you cannot select race.
As you enter the game you are greeted with an alliance setting. choose 1 or 2(basicly). for the demo we'll assume you chose 2. you are given 2 flags in a certain area that trigger all other players to ally or unally you automatically(same for computers). The Computers consist of: One side of the War , The Other side of the war, a Neutral computer(used for triggers and things) and an Enemy computer(enemy to everyone but the neutral).
You have, now, the selection of 16(+2) different heroes. a few of them vary in style based on which side you allied. Once everyone has 0 civilians the selection site is removed from the middle of the map. Those who chose 1 are moved to the north of the map..those who chose 2 are moved south. You are moved to inside the main base of your affiliated army. a few heroes can choose specials for their class inside here, and in the future you will be able to spawn units for your army to have(ive decided against a unit recruit as it might unbalance the game in the late)

Alright..now You exit out the front of the base...or perhaps you slip down into the subway, inside you can manuever around the city quickly and pop out a few locations. when you are outside, there is a few units fighting, the enemy dies and the affiliated army moves forward towards the enemy base.. (new feature)You noticed a few Supply Depots are guarded by the Enemy Computer(enemy to all) you rush in and sweep them. you acquire a supply gate! You see a little probe scuttle out after a few moments and head towards the base..you pay no mind and rush up towards the enemy base. as you pass through a certain area, you are directed to capture the area for your army. you control a reaver at the southern edge of the black void. after spending roughly 8 seconds you capture the flag there! you are briefed on what you recieved..you notice your ore has started to tick upwards slowly..you acquired a revenue vault(gold mine) suddenly, out of several directions the enemy's foot soldiers(zerglings) come rushing up to you, they are tough and you may die against them...after fighting for a second, from behind you see your affiliate army footsoldiers rush to meet them (Marines) the battle ends quickly with you helping. the soldiers are moved by your heroic effort and their morale goes up! You then notice the probe finally makes it unharmed to the main base..you are told that Supplies have reached the main base! For helping the supplies reach the base you are given a small boost of Ore!(like 25..not much comparred to 15k for capturing a tougher base)

Moving on, after capturing several bases, holding off the opposing army and even killing a few enemy players you help build up your force by dropping a few thousand ore into troops for your side.. the way troops work is through deaths..
If player 7 has 1 death of marine: Spawn 1 marine: therefor i can easily regulate the amount of troops at a time. anyway, you march up to the opposing base..as you blow through the vanguard ranks you notice the pace of units spawning increases! desperation ah? You whip out some killer spells(used with stargate((As you fight, you gain gas by having score)) and obliterate the army! you start to freak out and expend all your gas to heal quickly (stargate corsair..can only use 3 times per life) but it isnt enough! you are quickly swarmed and are killed..

all players are told of your death in a small dramatic way:
Battle Report:
The Xeno-droid Xesh was overcome in battle and was forced to retreat!

In the revival area your left over gas is converted into ore( a little bonus) and when it reaches 0 you are revived back at your base! With the extra ore you upgrade and rush back out to take on that
aw crap! The enemy player is doing just as you were...but better! You whip out your best tactics and..

There is alot to this game that i have yet to implement and i wish to make it as fun and insightful to Tactics of war as i can.

A few of the more tactful heroes and their spells include:
Guardian of Force: Can spawn units are captured Bases(only) that can be upgraded. one of which is an SCV that can place nukes and bunkers/traps

Psionic spy(working title): Sabotage, Diception, Hallucinations are included. befuddling the enemy and making money in the process..the spy can also switch sides for the right price...

Averus(working title): The Parasitic Averus can sneak into enemy bases using enemies bodies(talked about on OP Sen with friends)

Anything else? thats how the game would play out...

It looks like it's a big project for you. I don't think it's good to wait for a person to come to help. You'll be sitting in the seat for years, and you're running out of time. SC2 is just around the corner.

I suggest you get a schedule going, and budget your time. Make due-points for yourself.

I Suggest you go this route:
1-Terrain
2-Main Units (Bases and Such)
3-Heroes, infantry (Decide if you want to use my system I gave you for the Morale system)
4- Triggers + Locations
5- Balance
6- Enjoy map.

I suggest you cut out the Psionic Spy.

Well im currently taking a break from all of my hard work on the map as it is...lil-inferno is the only one helping me on it. . .and even that is rare. I HAVE been making progress and i think im only 40% away from full completion. Anything else you would like to know?
