Que Sera, Sera.

N Sync Holds The Record For Most Albums Sold In A Day.
Do you think it is possible for an artist today to break that record?

if the record sales count online aswell and its an awesome album, yes.

None.

I'm pretty sure that In Rainbows sold more than any album ever, but doesn't hold the record because of it not being carried by stores. :P

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

Not with the quality of "music" we have right now.
There's no innovation. Boybands were somewhat new back then and they were "innovative" in that matter.

Unless someone drastically changes the way things are done right now it won't happen.

fuck you all

We live in a society.

No, it is not possible. Once someone sells an equivalent amount of records all of the unsold copies and machines used to manufacture them will simultaneously disintegrate.

This is the reason it will not be broken.

With illegal downloading, few people would actually buy a CD. So no, I don't think it will be broken.

There's nothing new in music, it's pretty much all about image now-a-days. Soon kids will get tired of that though (hopefully).

We live in a society.

If the record is most records sold in a day, what you save up to buy doesn't really apply.

Mar 16 2009, 4:47 am Demented Shaman Post #13

Only if it's like "buy this album and get 100 other albums free" or some other giveaway crap that will make anyone want to buy it.

As soon as they change from £10 albums to £4.99. Too expensive for what they are [Like condoms (loljk b saef)]

But seriously, buying CDs' at stupid prices, when you can download for free or youtube, is what deters me from not supporting bands by buying CDs'.

Does anyone know how much the band actually gets from the CD?

None.

The sword and the faith

Very little. Most bands get the majority of their revenue from tours. And ticket prices are low as anything anyway, and I'm much more motivated to buy a ticket to see a band live rather than buy CDs, because I don't even own a CD player.

Is it because of the record companies stealing it all? Or just costs a lot to produce?

If you are an actual fan of the band, you SHOULD buy CD's.

CD's > MP3's just as Live show > Youtube Video.

Eh, thats only true if you get your music from Limewire or something. When you torrent, you usually get CD quality + other things like demos or live plays.

The sword and the faith

All of my torrented music is 320KBPs stereo at 48KHz. Fuck your CDs. I could get my entire library in FLAC if I wanted.

Another note is that a lot of people are using onboard sound with crappy 2.1 speakers, or worse, headphones. Seriously, unless you've got a decent soundcard and a 5.1 or above setup, I don't want to hear you utter a word about quality.

The quality isn't the only superior thing about CD's, the TANGIBLENESS of them is a plus for me, also the Booklets are sometimes very interesting.

Also, my car is set up with a $700 pioneer sound system, quality is fine in my area. (Tweeters =))
