I had just realized that if you combine the Ai scripts "medium a/medium d" for whatever specific race and add "upgrading town" at the upgrade areas. I don't know if this works for all races at the same time for 1 specific computer but I have tested that a computer upgrades when its under attack due to those ai scripts and the more units attacking the faster the computer upgrades, I'm sure this works up to at least 3/3 upgrades, although I'm not completely sure if it can go past 3/3 upgrades. And it also matters what unit is engaging with what other unit for the computer to upgrade, ie: mass of arbiters attacking a large building doing full damage will pose a threat to the computer to upgrade faster, a bunch of ghosts attacking a damage will do reduced damage thus making computer upgrade way slower.

So... You run three AI scripts at once and attack the computer and it researches upgrades? What upgrades does it research?

I assume Weaponry and Armour. Maybe even some Techs.

With some testing and refining, this could be incredibly useful. :D

It can certainly only upgrade to three, AIs are never programmed to go any further, if it does, I will be mildly surprised :P

I don't think it can.

On the unlikely chance that it does, this would be the biggest thing since euds. Soooo many maps would benefit from a computer that could up its spawns in a controlled manner.

The ai's I used are Protoss 7 - Right Protoss Town (Protoss - Area Town and buildings with research)' and 'BW Protoss 7 - A (Protoss - heavy medium D/heavy medium A)'. Remember this matters what type of unit is attacking the upgrader victim's buildings or units and as well as how much damage is being done over time, it wouldn't work that well if you had something constantly heal and you kept attacking it, or giving something 255 armor and the attacker having less than 255 damage, the earlier you do this in the game the earlier the computer upgrades, if you have mass of units attacking the computer will upgrade very shortly and a lot as well. the examples I used are 30 arbiters but i made them create 1 by 1 to strike until 30 are striking at once, this made the computer upgrade 2/2 shortly, if the game had just started, you can get the computer to get 1 armor upgrade by attacking a building of theirs, I tried this with hydralisk, dark templar, and zealot. Of course it was 2/2 because I capped it at 2/2 though XD.

I had also just realized that the more players against the computers also effects the upgrading of the computer.

You'll only be able to upgrade to 3/3, as no AI has scripts to upgrade further, but this would be really, really cool if it could be implemented in a consistent manner.

does anyone have an example map of something like this functioning? this is the only way of forcing computer to upgrade ATT/DEF right?

i have attached map below showing ai script "brood wars zerg 4 - town a" upgrading from 2x armorys & 2x engineering bays almost as soon as the game starts. unfortunatly im unable to stop the script from running after this point and taking control over any future units that maybe spawned. further infomation about this can be found here:

http://www.broodwarai.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=608&st=0&gopid=7525&#entry7525

i already assume their isnt but i'll ask just incase, is it possible to kill the ai script after its executed?

It'd be nice if we could revive this topic. I'm dying to know how to force a computer to upgrade all three races, both air and ground.

Anyone had any ideas?

Just a hunch but maybe the ai script "Clear Previous Combat Data" could be used to "trash" AI scripts. Untested concept, get back to this topic if you find anything out... I don't have time to test it atm.

I'm not huge on AI scripts, so I don't know about these things. However, I think that shouldn't stop you from testing it out yourself.

This is a great wallpaper to use if you want to go into an epileptic fit every time you sit down in front of your laptop, which I guess is a better option than watching Naruto.

Giving all units away and giving them back seems to clear most melee AI scripts. The only problem with this whole concept is that AIs are too finicky, there's no preciseness to their working.

If you have more than 1 computer player to juggle around you can make one of them preupgraded and the other unupgraded and give away units.

Okay, as I've mentioned in the topic for the ai scripts, protoss 7 - right protoss town, and protoss 7 - town a. Have a protoss building with moderate/high shields + hp, and put (trap missiles) next to it, why missiles? it seems that the fact that they're missiles they do 2x the hits, like zealots and firebats, having about at least 3 of these, (make sure they dont do much damage at all) and as they shoot, it should take about 10-20 seconds and the cpu will upgrade 2 protoss armor and 2 protoss weapons

Fire_Kame -- I know. And I am seriously considering my next move with it. I don't think I want to deal with the industry, at least, not on their terms. If the budget and crew are going to be Skeleton it's going to be my budget and crew :awesome:
