Hello all,

I have a map called Arbiter Defense which I used to play alot. Several patches back I was unable to get anyone to join my game when I would a make it with this map on battle.net. If anyone could help I would be very thankful. This map is a 6 v Comp style. If anyone needs I will uploaded it. The map still works fine on LAN hosted games just does not work any more on Battle.net.

Maybe no one wants to play? Try getting someone you know to go on bnet at the same time you're on, and see if they can join. If so, I guess no one else likes the map. (Or they just don't know what it is and don't want to play a map they don't know about.) That's the only thing I can think of.

(And can you host other maps? Try hosting a game of Temple Siege or something popular like that and see if anyone joins it. If not, then you need to change some settings on your server.)

Dear Sir:

Yes I can host other maps and people can join them and I have had friends on and they say the get an error message when trying to join the Arbiter Defense map. "I think unable to join game" or something like that.

Change the name of the forces so none of the overlap or colors are in them. That prevents people from joining it.

Blizzard changed something that prevents name overlap/colors in forces, so older maps that still have that in them can't be hosted unless those strings are modified.

Where exactly would I look for that I have a map editing program called SCMdraft 2.0. Thank you for the help in advance!

Google is your friend. Or look in Portal News, one of the recent threads has a link to the current version.

Try this. It is NOT LOCKED. If it doesn't work, then you have to also change the Ð characters to actual D's.

EDIT: As for modifying the force names in SCMDraft 2, do the following.
1) Open up the file in SCMDraft 2. I'm assuming you know how to do this.
2) Click on Scenario on the horizontal toolbar. A dropdown menu should appear.
3) Click on Forces in the dropdown menu. A new dialogue box should appear.
4) Change the names in the text boxes. These textboxes are located under Force 1, Force 2, Force 3, and Force 4.
5) Press the X button on the top right to close the window.
6) Save the map (File -> Save).
7) ???
8) PROFIT

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

They just disabled the overlapping in the force names in the lobby. But the force names don't prevent people from joining.

Ah, I always assumed it was the force name, not the map title, as you can still have colors in the map title. I made the assumption that since colors are there, overlap was probably possible, but I guess I was wrong.

The question is then is if Ð is allowed, and if the map description is affected at all.

Try the attached then. I removed all colors and overlap from the Force names, Map Title, and Map Description. I also changed all Ð's there to D's just to be safe. It should work.

Note that there a many characters, like the & character and linebreaks that also cause the map to be unjoinable, it's not always overlapping text.

Well I'm a little late in replying.
Just thought I would say Thanks for appreciating my hard work. Hopefully no one put there name on this. I haven't been on b.net in years, so I haven't played it. Not to mention after a hard drive crash I lost everything SC related.
There is actually a newer version (a final one) 1.5, not 1.4. There were 2 versions I made of this. One is regular, and the other is 4x speed. They were hosted here: http://www.gamethreat.net/forums/mods-maps/3336-post-your-maps-here.html but they had a few database crashes since then, and all is lost.

Anyway, if anyone is playing this still, there are 2 secrets that I put into the map if anyone cares to know about them.
