Wait, you're surprised that a bunch of Republicans changed their views on teen pregnancy when it suited them?

The Daily Show and the Colbert Report should be taken seriously.

Stephen Colbert is the greatest man ever. I hope America becomes based on his views. I'm a conservative person, and I don't like Sarah Palin. She doesn't seem legit. Also the fact that she is a Moose Killer.

Relatively ancient and inactive

The daily show IS mostly correct. They mock whoever comes along, but their mocking is based on what is actually said and is, at least in this case, accurate.

Jon Stuart > Colbert.

I really hope the FOX News team notices this and responds.

I used to love FOX News, at least Fox 5, but they got really boring from all these gay things. I don't know, maybe it's because people say that FOX News is really biased. I watch ABC 7 Now, since they are more about world news.

Colbert is way more funny.

I agree.

I actually don't really watch the Daily Show. It kind of bores me and isn't really funny. The Colbert Report on the other hand is just fucking awesome.

I used to love stewart, but his constant forced laughing at his own jokes is getting annoying.

The Daily Show ph-ph-phails. It use to be good in the past but now it's starting to suck. It's sort of like the Simpsons in a way.

Me and my parents love watching the Colbert Report.

I think The Daily Show lost something of it's, I dunno, zest, when Colbert left.

It's got good episodes occasionally, but it generally just feels really tired right now. I also think that 90% of the correspondent pieces absolutely suck, which is really irritating, considering how much of the show is now given up to "Senior Black Opinions Correspondent" or "Senior Chinese American Relations Correspondent" segments. I personally think that Stewart's comic form is generally good, however the writing has taken a nosedive. But when the Colbert Report had just first come on, I would definitely say it was better than Colbert.

It's pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that Colbert and Stewart are pointing out some very serious issues with our news media (and Kow, yes, you can take satire seriously if you listen to the message). Kow, watching the media that is constantly kissing the ass of a particular party and leader has NEVER been a good way to get information.

Think about this: Official news outlets in WW2 Germany would say ANYTHING in favor of the Fuhrer and the Nazi Party, IE, they were "just about to turn the tide of war" when there were Soviet tanks less than 100 miles from Berlin. Early on, the Nazis crushed things such as Cabaret, which was a satirical medium that felt free to talk very honestly about what was going on (IE, Hitler was a gigantic douche who was going to fuck up the country).

Today's news media is all about desensitizing, dearming, and demoralizing people and their opinions. It's about boxing everything up into "Left" and "Right", "Good" and "Bad" and about using nothing more than "your gut feeling" and your reptilian brain to make political choices. That's what Colbert and Stewart have so successfully satirized. The ego-driven news pundit, the sensational news outlets, and the tendency for most of our politicians to TOTALLY FUCKING LIE.

IMO, Palin is the best thing that could have happened to McCain, she follows a lot more of my views than he does, go Palin!

I think Palin has made the Republican party lie and change its views even more often than usual, and has really hurt the campaign through all of the hypocrisy required to support her. Indeed, go Palin! :}

Colbert > Stuart? Have you EVER seen the Georgia war episode of the Daily Show? That's freakin' hilarious. Youtube 'georgia jon stuart' and watch both parts.

Palin, as said by the ninja, really showed some of the flip-flops of the republicans. 'Respect my choice' and 'pro-life' from one person is pretty retarded.

I haven't seen it but even if it's funny that's only one instance. I die during every moment of The Colbert Report.

Colbert seems very superficial to me. His humor, the two times I saw it, revolved around stuff like baking muffins in his table. No colbert jokes actually made me laugh - I left halfway through it.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

holy crap, responses! I would have posted this in serious discussion, but null seemed a much better location for it.

What I meant was, when I watch that clip in particular, it only shows the republicans being complete hypocrites. As an extreme liberal, I can't even begin to imagine how to explain this as NOT hypocritical. If we take out anything relating to the Daily Show, is it still biased due to editing? Are all of these things taken completely out of context?

It's not so much that I take the daily show seriously, but I do take their sources seriously. If you completely ignore stewart's commentary, it still doesn't change the facts of what the individuals said. Sort of ironically, the asshole in me tends to agree with the earlier versions of the republicans. Teen pregnancy is a shame, and Palin is a horrible mother for letting it happen; If you're a woman running for office, it shouldn't matter at all. I disagree entirely with Rove, though. Honestly, though, I didn't see the entire clips of all these interviews, so I didn't get to see if Rove completely disagreed with Obama's choice (which I'm sure he would have anyway), or if he disagreed with McCain's choice at all.
