Storyline/Introduction
(this will be revised lots:) )

Introduction
(will be played at the start of the map)
-Year: Approximately 1784
-Country: iNingizimu Afrika (South Africa)
-Location: In a hut somewhere South of ePitoli and West of eMgunaundlovu...

A new born baby lay nameless whilst a mother and father, completely unaware of his presence, discussed the matter at hand...

(New Paragraph) "Hhayibo!(No!) This simply cannot be! I cannot accept this! It is not the truth!" Says the man defiant like stone. But it is the truth, the cold truth, that he is the father of this child.

(New Paragraph) "You must believe me when I say he IS our son! We mustn't deny it!" Says the bearer of bad news and apparent mother. The previously sleeping infant now lay curiously wide awake. Curious in that he hadn't made but a single noise. Until this very moment of coarse.

(New Paragraph) All argument ceased as the adults eyed the infant in utter confusion. The sound that had escaped this child was neither cry, nor was it laugh. Neither was it any form of language, nor any sound spoken by lips.

(New Paragraph) It was however, the audible form of power. Great power possessed by this child. Knowledge that knows no bounds. It had the importance of a whisper, and the force of a scream. So much power to be granted to such a young being.

(New Paragraph) From then on the man knew in his heart he was the child's father, yet in his mind he still denied it. He vowed to never give in to the knowledge inscribed deeply in his heart...

---- Ten Years Later ----

"Shaka! Fetch me some water!" Senzangakhona voiced, shouting at a boy named Shaka. Shaka defiantly refused and regretted this decision immediately after receiving a backhand from his father. "I said go get me some water, now do it!" Raged Senza. Not needing a third invitation, Shaka retreated to the well across town to retrieve the request for water.

(New Paragraph) "Someday, that old man will kill over and all my troubles will be over." Grumbled Shaka under his breath at the well. "I can make it happen today, if you would like." Stated a man who was adjacent and unknown to Shaka. Surprised he had heard Shaka question with skeptics, "Kill my father or remove my troubles?" The man chuckled at this, "Get rid of your problems. I know how. When I was your age I signed up for the ibutho(army). Greatest decision of my life. Consider it as an option, and put a little trust in me." At that the man disappeared around the corner and Shaka never saw him again, that is, until a year later when Shaka signed on for the ibutho.

(New Paragraph) Shaka's life as he knew it would never be the same. Just like the mystery man, it was one of the greatest decisions of his young adult life.


Storyline

Shaka is born of parents from separate tribes and is therefor treated differently by everyone else. To escape this constant humiliation he joins the ibutho(army) when he was only 12(<---subject to change) Hey is put into emDlatsheni iNtango(A regiment for new recruits), but is quickly favored by his commanding officer and is moved to be udibi(assistant) for Dingiswayo, the clans head chieftain. Dingiswayo also favors Shaka for his quick learning abilities and his mental superiority over all others. One fateful day, Dingiswayo is killed in battle fighting the Ndwandwe clan. Zwide is Dingiswayo's killer, and from that day forward Shaka takes it upon himself to avenge his death. Throughout many fortunate events, Shaka becomes the most powerful inDuna(ruler or chieftain) to ever live and he rules the Zulu people until he is betrayed by his two half brothers, Dingane and Mhlangana.

-Mostly you will be controlling your single unit(Shaka), but for mass battles and when you get armies it will be mass strategy combat(regular sc style)

This is where you come in. :) You need to lead Shaka through his difficult trials and challenges and ultimately become inDuna(ruler or chieftain) of the Zulu nation. Along the way there will be plenty of mini quests that must be completed and a wealth of side quests as well. Plenty of training and practice missions.. And a total overkill on fighting(both one vs one and multi-unit command) :D

-Map based on one persons lifetime.
-New, historically accurate terrain with extended tidbits and awesome cut scenes

-Intense war sounds and hopefully real Zulu sound clips of war dances and what not :)

-Characters

Main:
Shaka Zulu --- Unwanted child of Senzangakhona and Nandi; Extremely intelligent but anger can sometimes consume him.
Nandi --- Mother of Shaka, and daughter of Bhebhe, the chief of the Elangeni tribe; she becomes ill with malaria and dies early in Shaka's childhood.
Senzangakhona --- Senza for short, is father of Shaka, Current inDuna of freshly formed Zulu clan;
Dingiswayo --- Shaka's soon to be commanding officer in the Zulu army; he helps develop Shaka into a fighting machine.
Zwide --- inDuna of the Ndwandwe clan; also Dingiswayo's killer.
Dingane --- Shaka's first half brother; he assassinates shaka in the end to take his position as inDuna, but until then he remains a loyal war chieftain of his clan under the Zulu rule.
Mhlangana --- Shaka's second half brother; Shaka must fight him for rights as the Zulu inDuna, even though he is first born and rightful heir, because Senza thinks less of Shaka.

Supporting(syllable pronunciation):
Wakholo(wa-co-low) --- Shaka's best friend and co-iNtango member; he stays by Shaka throughout his whole life.
Lihabe(lee-ha-bay) --- Blacksmith for the Zulu tribe; he will do whatever Shaka says, but for a price.
Negoje(Nee-go-hay) --- The Sangoma for the Zulu tribe; she considers herself more than a seer or shaman, and is held in high regards of Shaka.
Umtsatsi(oom-tsah-tsee) --- 1st commander of the Zulu ibutho; he is strong and leads strong men, but needs Shaka's tactics.
Tjani(chi-aw-nee) --- 2nd commander of the Zulu ibutho; he follows orders from Umtsatsi but sometimes he thinks it should be vice-versa.
Magucu(ma-goo-ku) --- Head of the infirmary; She tends battle wounds using powerful magic and umuthi(Potion or medicine).

-Tribes/Clans
------------------------------------------
Zulu Tribe --- Started by Senzangakhona, this tribe starts off slow but explodes to power with Shaka as the new inDuna. It is composed of many minor clans, all of which remain loyal except for Ndwandwe.
Mabhudu, Dlamini, Mkhize, Qwabe, and Ndwandwe Clans --- Begining clans of the Zulu tribe that encompass all the new clans formed.
Ndwandwe --- The only clan to ever to desert the Zulu tribe. They, in due coarse, have many raids and battles with the Zulu tribe.
Elangeni Tribe --- Tribe in which Nandi, Shaka's mother, originates. She is no longer accepted in that tribe since she had Shaka with Senza, so she joins the Zulu tribe but she still isn't fully accepted.

- Items

There are plenty of nifty items you can get including quest/mission items and regular items, but here are a few:
Umuthi --- Healing potion that heals all who use it(all units within range)
Assegai --- Spear used for battle; can sometimes pierce multiple enemies
Umkhonto --- Improved spear meant for throwing
Isijula --- Improved throwing spear for long distance with huge damage, but slower
Isiphapha --- Even more damage from a throwing spear but slowest of all
Iklwa --- Better, yet shorter spear developed by Shaka himself. It is a melee wepon that is quite deadly
Iwisa --- War clubs used by the Zulu; they are slow but inflict massive amounts of damage
Ishlangu --- Oval war shield also developed by Shaka; This shield acted as defense but also was used to expose the ribs of the enemy for fatal blows

[edit's 5 & 6] small bb code fixes and added intro to the map]

[edit's 9 & 10] Media section added, picture uploaded, and people colored orange, clans/tribes are purple, places colored yellow, objects colored green, and words colored blue to help with readers comprehend zulu and easily distinguish the words]

[edit 14] resized images as they were gargantuan! lolz]

Side quests are optional, not meaning you have to do them at all. Main quests are a must do. So really you shouldn't of said side quests must be completed =/ That isn't right in world of RPGs.

I've never liked stuff based on true stories. Kinda seem blain to me at times. But I'm sure map will come out nice.

I guess good luck with the map. Sounds alright to me =)

Haha well i guess you never heard of a tribe of black people that had 50000 warriors that were 6'6''+ and had 2.5x the muscle capacity of average humans. :D A story like that just can't be passed up! lol as for the sidequest/miniquest issue i've fixed that by now but I guess you didn't read any of the replys.... neways do you have any imput? Suggestions at all?

Haha Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I'm gonna try for some pretty sweet cinematic cut scenes. :D That would be a pretty awesome cut scene but it will be hard to really capture the essence of a real tribal war dance... I'll have to work pretty hard I guess :)

Intro seems good, it pretty much tells ya how Shaka somewhat came to hate many people in wolrd (being rejected =S) and what he did with his life when he was old enough. I guess I'll have to wait and see how intro comes out in your map.

Are you going to post screen shots sooner or later?

Yeah I'm actually just beginning the terrain layout and design so it should start coming along progress wise and I'm glad there's at least on person interested in this map :) I'm thinking of some new ideas to implement in this map mainly "skippable text" meaning you read at your pace and if you've already played you can skip as fast as you want. Should I go for it or do you think it sounds kinda lame? Also I want to have some nice spells for damaging units but I'm not sure how to set up the triggers to make it flawless, does anyone know a good setup for something like that?

Added a zoomed out picture just to show some progress is being made :) The left side is first stage/beginning terrain and the right side is second stage/completed terrain. I'll post some closeups and in game screenshots, as well as maybe a video pretty soon here :D

used bb code to color all of the zulu words in to these classifications:

Orange -- Names
Yellow --- Places
Green --- Objects or Items
Blue ----- Words
Purple --- Clans/Tribes

I think it helped a ton when reading because it is easy to confuse them so at least you can kind of tell what it is talking about if you don't recognize the word yet :) I hope it helps you too :D

Sounds like a cool map, and Im vary fond of the Zulu's, I think they are a bad arse tribe! : )

There was a movie where there was a war with the zulu's I forget the movie's name Lol

btw sence Shaka is trying to become the chief, why not name the subtitle

"Shaka's Rise to Power"

because Power Defined does not make sence to me.

Holla! haha yeah the Zulu tribe kicked some serious butt! they killed like 50 or 60 thousand people in ten years(without any modern tech at all mind you!) that is one heck of an army! Anyways I originally had it as Shaka's Rise to Power as you may have picked up on from the topic subtitle, but I was trying out different titles to see how I liked them. And Power Defined is supposed to symbolize the great power Shaka Zulu had from his early ages. The Zulu tribe believed strongly in unseen forces and strengths and they believed that from birth, Shaka had nearly limitless power at his discretion. So in a sence Shaka is like the definition of power. That is where the second title came from anyways but I guess I kinda want the general public to understand the title lol... I think about changing it back. :)

Christ Jello. If you spend as much time on the map that you did making the first post im sure the map will turn out good haha. I'm tired of all the "Modern" SC maps. I wanna play some old school SOG! or maybe some Legacy Open RPG rant rant rant etc... I gatta say you reprezent' the map well. Hope it turns out good.

K well I'm working on the triggers portion now and developing some new ideas that will make this game lots better. :D But I wonder if anyone is even interested anymore cause no one has posted for like 2 weeks.... Anyways I'll keep going for a while but if no one says anything I'll probably just stop...
