I need the most effective, simple and reliable program to replay video/audio files.
What are you using?
None.
VLC for video
MusikCube for audio (i'd reccomend you don't use it. I like it because it's SQLite based and you can write custom queries. Also it's not maintained and written using MFC :X)
None.
That stuff sucks if you ask me.
None.
Pffft. It has a shitload of different interactive features and all, but it doesen't play video files for me.
None.
I use amarok for music, and I don't really watch that many videos.
None.
I used to use iTunes... but I found WinAmp, which shits all over iTunes, for me. Plus, it has sexy, easily customizable visualizations =D

Could you explain why isn't WinAMP playing video files for me?

I'm not sure... it seems fine for me. Try playing around with the settings, or you could ask for help on the forums at
http://forums.winamp.com/VLC seems to be better for video, methinks... my friend uses it to play DVDs in his room. I haven't tried video files much on this computer, so I couldn't say for sure though.
None.
Media Player Classic Home Cinema is also useful. Just like VLC, it includes all of the various codecs built-in.

I used to use Windows Media Player for everything. That was before discovering VLC. Began using Winamp for audio when the wireless keyboard with those nice hotkeys that controlled WMP stopped working (though this was the only good thing with that crappy keyboard. Didn't need to minimize games to change song).
So, VLC for video and Winamp for audio.
I use rhythmbox for music and VLC for video.
None.

You need codecs to play video on winamp (? and most others ?). Divx and AC3filter should be the primary ones. I'd recommend avoiding codec super packs.
VLC is good for subtitled movies and bin/que movies.
None.
I use iTunes for music, and quicktime PRO with every codec plugin known to man installed. VLC is shit in comparison (even though I use it sometimes)
this too shall pass
