Trigger/Save Issue

My map is almost complete, just putting on the finishing touches, and the problem occurs after I create a new trigger (ANY kind of trigger) and try to save the map. SCM just crashes (no diagnostics file, nothing. Just...crash). I can edit a hundred other things; it just happens when I try to save (even save as...).

I wish I had more information on the actual issue, but it is very befuddling even to me. My map has a fair amount of triggers and a couple times I've had to delete units (CCMU issues) and locations (CCML). If I recall correctly, there are (for all intents and purposes) an infinite amount of triggers that can be used, no? I couldn't be overloading the triggers, could I?

Any ideas?

Post the map plz. I'm almost certain you are not overloading the triggers.

Oh and also, just as a side note, I'm trying to create two different high-templar units. There are two hero-high templar units that I can use, and I can change both of their names, shield and hit point settings, but I cannot for the life of me get them to have different attack values. Whenever I change the attack value on one templar, the other attack value changes itself to match. Little bit different issue than the one above, but is this fixable? Thanks for the help :)

Exactly which ones are you using? I'm assuming Aldaris and Tassadar, but Aldaris cannot be created via triggers, and since they both use the same weapon, changing one changes the other I believe.

Wow! That was fast :) Thanks a bunch for the help. I'm also pretty positive I'm not overloading triggers either. Here is the map:

I got the map, opened it, saved it under a different name, added a trigger, then saved it again and it did not crash. I was using SCM Draft 0.8.0.

Yeah, it's Aldaris and Tassadar. I'm using Aldaris as a hero and Tassadar as a nation-special unit spawn (it's a diplo map). It won't really do to have their attack be the same =/ So there's no way to have their attacks be different?

Not that I know of, since Aldaris is an extended unit and Blizzard did not give him a different attack from Tassadar, so they share it.

Hmm... I tried about 5 different triggers and none of them would save for me. I just tried this trigger which crashed:

Players: All Players
Conditions: Always
Actions: Comment: Always.

Save: Crash.

ScmDraft 2's Backup Database causes these crashes.
Go to advanced -> Backup Database and delete entries you don't need and you'll be able to save with no problem again (if you deleted enough).

Alternatively if you don't want to delete anything you can go into ScmDraft 2 folder and rename the backup database (should be the biggest file). After restart ScmDraft creates a new Database and you'll be able to save with no problem again.

After a bit more testing it seems that anything with a string in the trigger is crashing (the two I've found are <comment> and <display text message>). I suppose this is why "all" of my triggers wouldn't work; I always throw a comment onto them =/

Dang, you guys are fast. lol thanks so much for the help.

I cleared the backup database (I just cleared the whole thing, I save my files periodically enough not to need the backups) and tried the trigger again, but the editor is still crashing when trying to put in said triggers :(

It looks like you have exceeded the 1024 string limit, and you are getting some bugs due to that, try getting rid of a few comments.

In Scmdraft2, open the string editor. Scenario -> Strings, or CTRL+SHIFT+S.
At the top of that window is a line of text that shows (approximately) how much of the string limit you've used up.

Thanks again :) seems to be working fine now. I hope you guys don't mind but I removed the map from the page :)

Thanks!!

Sylph-Of-Space -- It would be so so so nice if SCMDraft had some kind of dedicated "walkability" view for the tilesets.
