How do you approach a new forum?

I sign up instantly to all forums I get a link to!	1		5%	None.
I read up on the rules, and read a couple of posts, to see what kind of community it is, then make a decision.	4		19%	None.
I make an account straight away, but lurk silently for a while before I begin my reign of terror.	7		32%	None.
I immediately send an email/PM to the administration asking to be a moderator/Admin.	1		5%	None.
I check up on the site regularly for a few weeks, making my decision slowly, and eventually sign up.	5		23%	None.

There are very few communities on the webber webs I actually like, it basically boils down to &T and StarCraft modders and very few mappers. Everywhere else I post like 200 times and leave.

But I lurked as a guest for a month or two, then signed up and didn't post for awhile because you old people are intimidating.

When I find a new forum, I usually disregard it as more drivel on the net, silently curse the gods, and ctrl-w.
