A Defense in Wonderland

(user posted image)

Got tired of all these common defense maps? Then play Phantom Defense, which suggests a completely different defense form.

General
Gametype: Defense
Number of Players: Up to 4. Players don't interact with other players.
Detailed Information

Hello. I'm zzt, a Korean mapper. This is a map I made several months ago, and I thought of posting it on SEN after translating. So I came up with this as a result.

As I mentioned above, this defense is a very unique defense. To list some uncommon features:

1. Defense Area
(user posted image)

Your goal is quite different from stopping enemies from going somewhere. You have a time limit, and you have to kill enemy units wandering(some enemies are fixed, though) your defense area until the time ends. You just have to care about your area, not all the path to the goal. You'll often have to control your defenders to properly eliminate all of the enemies.
Fare., a friend of mine, made this defense area's terrain. Enjoy the terrain!

2. Ghostly Defenders
(user posted image)
(Sorry for using the same image again and again. I don't have enough screenshots.)
(user posted image)

See my units in the screenshots? Can you feel something strange? Well, you can figure out that some of my units are actually stacked, just like air units. In fact, every defender unit here is quite the same. They just act like air units! Like phantasms, they can't be attacked and they don't take space. Unlike phantasms, they can hurt our evil monsters. This enabled using melee units as defenders! Just watch your phantom ultralisks crush your enemies' faces.
In fact, Oo.Cool.Oo's map, Sprite Defense gave me an Idea. I left a 'special thanks to:' for him.

3. Few Stages, Many Bosses With Different Characteristics
(user posted image)
Bosses are quite common in this map. In fact, 1/3 of the stages are bosses. We often get tired of having normal units again and again, so I decided to shorten the playtime and put many bosses. There are 18 stages, and 6 of them are boss stages.
Each boss has his or her own unique characteristics. They have patterns of their own, which will give you fun every time you encounter them. Some bosses will require you to get rid of some extra enemies, while others may try to keep you from controlling your units properly.

4. The Importance of a Good Combination

As my screenshots show, I bought defenders that doesn't share an upgrade. Why? It's because some defenders are strong against certain types of enemies while others are weak against the same enemies. For example, If you train only Terran bionic units, enemies like tanks will be tough as many of your units' attack type will be concussive. If you train only Ranged units, you'll have a hard time getting rid of fixed enemies, as they generally have a very high hitpoints. It's important to mix units properly so that your defense line won't collapse at your weakpoint.

Alright. That's all I can explain you. All other necessary information(like how we can buy stuffs) will be explained during the game. Just keep in mind that this map originally was Korean, so most unimportant strings(such as enemy units' names) are still Korean. I'll try to translate them as well soon. You probably won't have any problem playing this map since all the important strings are properly translated.

(Edit : corrected some misspells. Not quite important)

By killing him, nice idea of showing someone gratitude by letting them be killable inside the game.

Btw, my record round is 6 rounds, beat that. :D

The Uniqueness: It reminds me of a Korean Defence but only solo with a few changes.
1: Fare, he did a great job. I'm actually appreciating the map, it's quite balanced where there are few obstacles that harass you, unlike some *Ahem, Poker Defence SK9*, But also makes your realize you have to know your corner personally.
2: Defenders, I have to say, it's a nice concept. I can't usually find a wrong with it. However, I think it's something, the units stopped moving and wouldn't move to my command. The "air unit" thing quite surprised me though, I have to say. Nice job on the units.
3: I don't like the idea, but gotta deal with it. I love the fact though the multiple boss throws most defenders off edge, because the boss makes you think differently then the normal units.
4: I understand the damage relationships, it's a nice concept, where the upgrade only terran infantry WILL be thrown off edge also.
Lasting appeal? I'm playing this right now, heck, I might get sick of this after the next year or so.
Rating? 9.5/10, fantastic job.

Yeah. Well, he's a BOSS! He's not just like any other units :) Fare is also an enemy unit. He'll appear in stage 16+, and is veeery strong. Be careful!
Actually many enemy units are just friends of mine. Other enemies refer to something popular in Korean Internet culture.

btw thanks for the comment. Your post made me feel very good!

I played a couple games of this and made it to the scantid level. When I beat the scantid level the BCs kept flying and time counted down then said I lost and was defeated :( .

Really? Sorry about that and my late response. I'll check that bug later.
By the way, did you reach that final level with just a couple of games? I've never seen anyone who is that fast... Even I took dozens of games to get there. How did you do that?

This just gave me an idea: A defense map where one random player works to sabotage the others secretly.

This is what I thought when I saw the map's title.

Sorry about my late response xD. I was spending time with life and board games since late november :P .

I did reach that level in a couple of games. I quickly figured out through first trying the map out in single player w/ cheats to analyze each regular unit and each boss 2 strategies to get to the end boss. I wrote down exactly when each boss comes and exactly what to do and followed through. Buying a different unit for each boss is fun and with the extractor I bought the turrets. Only thing is that the 2nd game I got some bad "gifts" while in the third I got awesome ones. Like the SCV early on becomes useless. (Don't remember if I got that that early or not now since I didn't play the map in a little while now, will pull it up on single(without cheats) and edit accordingly)

The BCs can also be used to kill units early on(Dark Templar is easiest, if not the only one. I did it in a multiplayer game with noobs to test xD).
The Dragoon's 2nd effect in the replay below fails to work. Instead of going through my units he stands there and takes it like a man. Saddest thing is, my return involved me with a huge memory loss of what I found to actually work lol. Oh and, having FH in multiplayer doesn't hurt for testing strats either, especially when you watch replays ;) .

Have you replicated it? What happens is that:
1) There is no victory set or it is set incorrectly from my testing. (I test/play, I don't make maps :P )
2) BCs keep flying around
3) Says I lost when I won
4) Some units will become enemy units and some will stay as my own. This is probably cause of #3.
