The new mega update for EVE-Online, called Trinity, was supposed to include new ships and a new graphics engine, giving the world of EVE even more beauty. However, upon upgrading the client, Windows XP users found themselves quite fuxed. At first it looked like all windows XP users would have their Boot.ini file deleted, meaning that if they restarted their computers they would lose vital system components. People with this problem would need to reinstall their OS. It looked like if they had Windows SP2 they would be fine- but of course some people still had the corrupt Boot files. Me? I run windows media center. SP2. I seem to be fine, but who knows what insane twist will shake my computer. If any of you play EVE-Online, and have upgraded their Clients PLEASE read the thread link I posted above.

Says how to fix it here.

I downloaded Trinity last night. After patching the game and playing for an hour or so, I turned off the computer and went to bed. Next day I read about this at school and feared the worst. I came home and started up the computer, and it turned on as usual, even though the boot.ini file seemed to be missing. To be on the safe side, I went trough the forum thread Tartarus linked to remake it. Made a new one in Notepad and everything seems to be in order now.
I also have SP2, which seems to be partially immune to this.

Its so strange that some systems are effected and some arent even though they appear to be identical.
