nternet question
I live in NJ and I'm wondering if I can get internet without a landline that isn't Fios. Cable charges around $500 for installation and the budgets pretty tight. Trying to get bare minimum internet that doesn't use a landline. I really don't care about speed but I care about a bandwidth limit like some satellite providers give. Verizon DSL sounds nice but I need a working phoneline. Being a dial-up user that blew my fucking mind.
Do you know how much it costs to pay for a home phone and a really old dial up plan? More than fucking DSL. Rage.

AT&T doesnt require a paid for phoneline, but if you have one connected to your house they can provide you with service.

I have a working phoneline right now but I want to cut the service since the only reason I'm actually paying for the service is for the dial up to work. Homephone + (bad) internet is what I have know. I want to do just internet. :C

You don't need to pay for a phone service if you're not going to use the phone. AT&T is a phone company, so they can utilize that phone line to give you internet.
Were I in your situation I'd get clearwire, but I doubt you have it.
I typically upload 20 kB/s constantly through torrenting, so my average upload is 2 GB a day, whereas download is anywhere from 500 MB to 5 GB (but the 5 is only if I'm downloading a new torrent or streaming a bunch of video). I have an uncapped cable connection at 7M/384k. So in a month I'll go through 30-150 GB and upload 60 GB. If I cut out the torrenting, I'm sure I'd drop down to nothing.

Then call them and talk to a real person. If they continue to insist that you address doesn't exist ask them where they send your bills to.

Internet options are almost always based on the area. Try out as many phone companies as you can, and talk to some real people on the phone to figure out what you can do.
