Quote from name:About nasl.tv
The mission of the NASL is to foster the prominence of eSports and professional StarCraft 2 play in North America through highly visible, organized and invigorating competition.
The Biggest Western League to Date
- nasl.tv is a new league upcoming in the Western world with a current 400,000 dollar prize pool, where 50 top players get to compete! There is currently a voting section to help choose which players will play in the tournament here. This tournament should rival GSL, and be the pinnacle of competitive gaming for North America and the rest of foreign world (outside of Korea). This league will be absolutely amazing! There will be daily matches, and even an open qualifier tournament for a slot on the Ro16 that anyone can potentially get into!
- A nice member over at TeamLiquid compiled a great set of information regarding nasl.tv here.
- It seems that G4TV is also getting in on covering aspects of nasl.tv, and they seem to have a thread over at TL that does into some detail: link
Happy gaming!

Yeah I'm not sure you guys are realizing how big this is. This is the first time that Blizzard has ever gotten behind a community organized project and they're doing it significantly. The casters are also big name guys, iNcontroL being one of the most recognizable faces of the SC community and hopefully more serious casters to come. Hopefully they bring in someone like Husky to merge his following of players who watch mostly for entertainment with the TeamLiquid elitists that everyone can get behind. If they can get day[9] as well they'll be able to eclipse everything and make this a reality.
Instantly that thought reminds me of a quote from Ender's Game:
"He proposed it through his friends from the public policy nets, and then Demosthenes got behind it, too. It was the moment he had been waiting for,
to use Demosthenes' influence with the mob and Locke's influence with the intelligentsia to accomplish something noteworthy."
The production better be a hell of a lot better than the showmatch today or they'll have some serious issues. Even the VOD's lag and crash, JustinTV sucks. Even still, the potential for revenue is HUGE. $100,000 prize pool for the first season, I'm thinking probably double that to pay for studio+production+casters, so $200,000-$250,000 expenses. At $20-$25 for an HD season ticket means that they'll only need to sell 10,000 passes to break even. There were twice that number of people watching the stream, LIVE. I'm guessing GSL has pulled in way more subscriptions than that, and that's not even for English players, it's more of a sideshow for the Koreans.
At this point, my most serious concern is that iNcontroL is going to consider this "his baby" and not listen to feedback from the community. He's a very very intelligent guy so that's not very likely, and he's been working closely with MLG to make sure this comes to fruition and they don't compete with each other. I'm tentatively very very hopeful, this is enormous news.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

I saw you on a list along with DarKFoRcE, Liquid`Tyler, Liquid`Ret, Liquid`Haypro, Liquid`HuK, Liquid`TLO, Liquid`Jinro, MorroW, qxc, IdrA and iNcontroL
Here it is. Just click the collapse button in first post.
A GSL-type thing here in North America is, imo, a pretty big deal. If it ever came near my area, I would to my best to see a game live - that would be amazing.
As for the commentators, I think it'd be great to have them all advertise it, but not so great if some of them commentated on it. Husky doesn't always analyze very thoroughly, and misses some big, obvious point in some games. If he could send viewers to check out the community that could gather behind this thing, it would probably help out immensely though.

I really doubt someone is going to come out to bumfuck west Georgia to round up the SC2 players.
Which is why I dislike most gaming contests

That's why you fly to contests. Luckily I'm only in Washington, and might be able to stay at a friend's location near LA if I ever get to go.

I thought this whole melee thing was just going to blow over
Lols just kidding... but I'm not into this sort of stuff at all
... I like exploring people's creations much more than perfecting one creation. If there was a giant custom map convention that wouldn't cost me a lot to go to, I might actually consider it =)

Many of the potential invitees have only played SC2 in a single LAN or two, sometimes none. If you can prove yourself online it's up to you to find open tournaments, you're not going to get "rounded up."
The studio is in California, and the top 16 players all receive $500 stipends for travel to and from for the offline stages. Much of the league will be online, though, it looks like.

This is some of the biggest news for StarCraft 2 yet apart from the announcement of the game itself. It doesn't matter if it's directly related to mapping or not because this prize pool is going to attract a hell of a lot of attention to StarCraft in North America.
that and melee mapping is still mapping and in my opinion much harder than making a Custom game (from BW's perspective anyway. I assume it's relatively similar in #2, just give me a god damned integrated symmetry feature)...wow this was longer than I intendedIn case people didn't get it from my post. HELL YEAH! I wont even have to stay up till 4:00am to watch this tournament.
