I don't think Acer sells laptops for $1500. I'm pretty sure Acer was HP's low end division.

What exactly are youp lanning to do with this computer? Photoshop? Work/school? Games?
Bye!

http://www.xoticpc.com/laptop-manufacturers-really-makes-laptops-ip-11.html

QuoteYou have all heard of "name brand" laptop's on the market today; such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Alienware, etc. None of these companies actually manufacture their own laptop's. These "name brands" purchase their laptops from an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer). ODM's such as Quanta, Compal, Asus, MSI, Uniwill and Clevo design & manufacture the machine and sell it to these 'name brand" companies. These "name brand" companies then customize the system with a Intel or AMD Processors, Hard Drives, Ram and other internal accessories and then put their name on it and market it as their own. Most companies receive the laptop's from the ODM's as a barebones; meaning there is no processor, ram, hard drive and other internal accessories.

Anyway, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1521, and it works great, not sure how it would for gaming though because I use a PC for SC. Anyway, Inspirons pwn anything else, I guess.

Off-Topic: Sorry for double posting :( .

Things like keyboard, touchpad.. I'm not sure what else.
I'm not sure if it goes farther to things like motherboard, fingerprint scanner, and integrated camera, etc.

But yeah, a lot of people go like oh "x makes the best laptops, better than y" and stuff, when in reality, it's all BS.

It's all(or mostly if you want) coming from China, right!

Um... With the exception of the motherboard, those are all pretty much the case and unrelated to computer performance, so x does make the best laptops...

I am not sure if something like monitors and batteries also fall into that.

Hardware that is related to performance is universal among laptop brands.. it's not like X's 8600GT M is any different than Y's.. that can apply to like everything.. (CPU, RAM, ETC.)

So a lot of people do say things like "X LAPTOP IS BETTER THAN Y LAPTOP", when in reality, they're practically the same.

Also, there actually is a noticable difference in quality of touchpads. I have used my share of shitty ones, and some are nicer. Also, don't forget about things like how sturdy a laptop is. I broke one of mine because I dropped it, however, if that were another laptop, would the same thing have happened? Who knows.

Don't get alienware. They suck hardcore, especially if you can only sink 1.5k into it.

I got one for a little over it, like 1650, and the battery died (I never even used the battery all that much) like 3 months after, shitty keyboard design (the enter button broke off. I'm hitting the circuitry to get it to hit, and the graphics card sucks ass, i can't even run WoW on anything but EVERYTHING low settings, and even THEN it's really really laggy. I rarely get more than 6-7 fps in non populated areas. Throw a bunch of models in and it goes down to 2-3.

In short DONT GET ALIENWARE!!!

Due to the low responses of this topic, i randomly choose dell.
I randomly choose a dell inspiron 1520 with
Intel Core 2 Due t7250(2.0GHz/800MHz FSB/2Mb cache)
Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
2Gb Ram
256 Geforce 8600GT
And for some reason Support Reforestation: Plant a Tree for Me ($2)
Start complaining about this horrible choice by showing me what i could have bought!
