I'd like a way to sync my laptop to my desktop. By this, I mean that everything on my laptop will be synced to my desktop (or what I choose, but probably everything), while not everything on my desktop will be synced to my desktop (not enough room, laptop has SDDs). In addition to file transfers, it would be fantastic if it could cover things like extensions and bookmarks for browsers, though I suppose this could be manually done. Maybe Chrome Profiles which save everything like that? I don't know of such an addon, but someone else might. Can anyone recommend a way to do this syncing stuff? I trust SENners more than internet articles, which have misled me in the past (I could never convert that monkey audio file properly <_<).
Additionally, it would be awesome if it were wire-free. I have wifi and bluetooth support (I think I have bluetooth support); can those be used to sync? It would be nice if it were done on our local network, because I want to limit bandwidth use.

That looks awesome, one more reason to love Microsoft. I'll play with it tomorrow, thanks!

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
Chrome allows you to save your bookmarks with a gmail account, you just need to be signed in always, I guess that's not a problem.
You can use that live mesh service or dropbox, though dropbox has the least space and requires you to put your files in a folder.
You can also transfer desired files via LAN from laptop to desktop or desktop to laptop. You just need to set up a workgroup on each machine and disable firewalls, or whatever protection that may prevent the two computers from appearing in the same "network", though, via LAN would not be automatic, you'd have to do it yourself and requires both computers to be on. But is faster than the other two as it doesn't require you to upload to the internet and then download your files on the other computer. (although it does upload + downloads automatically it still uses internet and it slows you down your browsing experience
)
fuck you all

Corbo, yeah, the one disadvantage with Mesh seems to be that it does it over the internet, which is nice but it's not ideal when both computers are at home. I was thinking there might be a program, that I could use locally that would do the syncing for me via LAN?

Right click -> New Briefcase -> How does a briefcase work?
Investigate that, I've never used it before.

Look into Ghosting. That may be what you want.

Playing around with Mesh and Windows Live Sync. If WLS can work over LAN, it's just what I need for that - Mesh is great in another respect, as it gives me an internet-drive and allows for remote desktopping. It's awesome to go downstairs with just my laptop and be able to configure syncing on other programs using remote desktop.
