So I got bored of Morrowind and decided to upgrade (Can i say that?) to Oblivion (-throwing weapons, dressing in layers, spears. + Rage). But it's an elder scrolls game and everyone knows that means that for the most part your going to need mods to make it 'real' or better in general. Anyone else play Oblivion and have a good set of mods to share? A lot of these mod lists suck and yet I see these great screen shots with these characters with amazing weapons, hair, face, armor textures with amazing bloody gore decapitation mods. Like what the fuck. I can't find any of that stuff. It's either a Mod thats not really essential and hardly improves much of anything or it's an erotic mod (not even a good erotic mod. I've seen tentacle rape mods and random NPC masturbation mods and those are cool and lulzy)

Mods being used atm are:
Low poly grass mod
HG Eye candy bodies (i can't find a "better bodies" like in morrwind, theirs only better bodies for females lol)
more hopefully

It seems to me that the best mods come from the Japanese. Hmm...

keychain makes a bag for keys.
Terrain Map is ridiculously high def for the map.
EVE HGEC is the one I have installed, only because it has clothed smaller breasts, and the default textures are completely ugly. It's got a lot of choices too. I also have HGEC installed for some reason, I forget how I had it set up.
DarNified UI is probably the best thing you can install.
Harvest Flora is an aesthetic mod which makes flora disappear when you collect it (so you know you've picked it). It doesn't disappear from the game, just from your view (so those hard to pick elf cups in frostcrag spire are still hard to pick).
Toggleable Quantity Prompt disables the "how many" dialog unless you hold down ctrl. Needs:
Oblivion Script Extender is useful for lots of mods.
Streamline effectively gives you a 10% performance increase.
Natural Faces is one of 3 good face mods. I still think it's ugly.
Advanced Water Modification is YAWM, but I like the look of it. You can see better in water, but not perfectly, and the water looks better on the surface.

I probably have some more, but OBMM doesn't show them all very well, since some are OMODs, and others are .esp files or whatever. Don't forget to check uesp wiki for more good mods, but I can't guarantee they're any better.

I haven't found any good "gore" mods because I haven't been looking, but I care more about the gameplay than how my character looks (with crazy armor and everything).

Horrible. I've seen this and have been avoiding this for a while. It seems to me if I want to play a pretty oblivion the only i'm going to have to run female 'better faces' with babe hair and play as a female.

I guess you can't really blame them though. Most people make these 'better face mods' with oblivions face stretching customization. Although at this point i would prefer static faces like in morrowind.

Darnified seems like a Godly mod when i saw the screen shot for morrowind like equipment menu.

I found that beauty faces too (it's one of the 3 I mentioned). I think the only way you can get it is by getting someone elses premade player.

There's a good obscure mod called Portable Pastiche. Adds cool skins to potions, balances effects, etc.
LAME (Less Annoying Magic Experience). Adds SOME interesting magic effects, some are rigged-ish. They are fun to play around with.

If there's one mod you HAVE to have, it's Martigens Monster Mod v3.1 RC. I'll give you a link to this one since it's very hard to find the latest version.

Martigens adds SO much to the oblivion experience. First: It adds several thousand monster variations (Every single timber wolf you fight doesn't look the same). Second: Several hundred new creatures to fight, most of which are pretty awesome and unique. Third: It adds lots of new items that you can pick up off of the dead bodies of new and old creatures. Fourth: There are tons of plugins. I could give a full list, but I think you'd rather see for yourself. Fifth: Enemy AI. This one is too hard to really describe in a single post, you are better off reading the description at Planet Elder Scrolls (the place where the author uploaded most of it). If you really want some examples: Skeletons have a 1/10 chance of reviving the next time you come across their body. It will scare you shitless to see bones flying in a vortex pattern. Don't download it anywhere else.
Downsides: A little unstable, can cause annoying-ass crashes. Some creatures look like shit, just various parts of different creatures put together.
Got a 9.92 out of 10 on Planet Elder Scrolls.

Oh nice. But I already took Rens Mystical elf mod. My only gripe with all of these oblivion mods is that it feels like the more face/hair mods i look for the more feminie everything gets.

A cool find was Midas (MIDAS_MAGIC_SPELLS_OF_AURUM) spells. It adds a ton of new spells like beams, flaming pillars, circles of fire, meteors crashing, and new summons mods (and more that I can't remember). I haven't really tried it out because you need to go to Anvil or some other specific place to start some quest or something but I jumped straight to the shivering isles.

Might look into some total conversations real soon as I've already beaten the main quest before among other quest lines.

Also this Deadly Reflex mods sounds awesome. Involves a lot of decapitation and limb loss with shield bashing and such. Sounds awesome for my naked Mystical Elf H-cup Barbarian.

Off the top of my head I'd say Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Obscuro Oblivion Overhaul and OblivionXP are must-haves.

There is a really cool Demon race mod that not only looks nice but it also allows you to fly, I got it because I was annoyed that they took out Levitate and I loved to fly I forgot where i found it because i haven't played Oblivion since my comp was reset (which for some reason killed my graphics card)
