Hey, i used to play Age of empires II - The Conquerors, and was introduced to Starcraft 2 with the beta, and i love it
Now what brings me here, there was a very popular custom scenario (map) in AoE which me and my friends also loved to play.
Unfortunately I don't have much time to learn map mapking which at first look (yes i tried very briefly:P) didn't seem that easy. So i though i'd share the idea with more experienced guys, and maybe someone has interest in making a 100% fun map.
It seems from the subforum description this is the place to make such request or share this idea, but if some admin can clear that up then i'll post a pic of the map and explain what it consists of.
Cheers,

I'm sure some young genius will figure it out and produce an AoE sCII port..
but now, you'll just have to sit tight and wait.. D:
is there already a map that's like this already? You weren't very clear
None.
I don't have the map anymore, i just know it in my head. I draw a sketch of what it was, so that if anyone that actually knows how to map in SCII likes the ideia, can do it.
I think this is the right place so i'll show then.
Well basically, AI units come from below. Its players vs AI. The players share a King (K) that has a set life. Each time a AI unit passes the red line, the king loses 1 Hp. Each unit killed gives a certain amount of minerals (in AoE gold and stone). Those minerals can be used to buy everything that shows on top on the squares. V -- means villager, which in starcraft would be probe / scv / drone. On v1 they go to gather more minerals, on v2 they can be used to build something on the buildable areas. The trading part could also be bought, but since theres nothing like it on SC2, it could be something else, maybe another set of minerals with more workers.
The host choses the difficulty of the game, and in case someone leaves or is messign around, he can choose to "kill", removing him from the game, so no units come from his narrow.
Then you can buy upgrades for the army and buildigs (Up attack, HP, upgrade buildings attack and HP, buy the king HP).
It allows a lot of creativity and teamwork. It would be a lot of fun playing it in SC2.

It's been done. There will be and already are a lot of defense maps in SC2, and they were in SC1 and warcraft 3 before they were in Age of Empires.

@Biophysicist Yes it's a defense map. Just this specific one, that i used to play a lot and that i'd love to see on SC2.
@JAck No. It was on Age of Empires long before it was on either SC or WC 1 2 or 3. And i never said it had never been done, it's just a good ideia, that whoever knows about mapping can use and seeing that i haven't seen one like this on SC2 i thought i'd share.
Cheers.

WC1 and 2, and starcraft 1 were all out before AoE2
Not to sound like an ass but defense maps are relatively simple, and at SEN we like bigass complicated stuff. That's not to say no one will ever make it, but you're better of making it yourself. We're willing to teach you how

The first defense map I ever played was the original U-shaped Turret D in like 1999 or 2000. Since AoE2 came out in 1999, I'm gonna say that SC1 was the first.
A lot of the features in that drawing can be simplified in SC2 now, too, so it shouldn't be that difficult to recreate.
