A great RPG by qPirateKing... IMO, everyone should play it at least once.
This is not the original version. The original was rendered unplayable due to patches. I had to hack the string table to make it playable again. Nothing else was changed.

Nevermind. The Player 2 thing is pretty lame.

Explain what you mean by "fixed"?

payne wrote on Jun 23 2010, 10:21 pm:
A fixed version of this exists, but I was told not to spread it. O.o
Too bad ^^

This map has a lot of potential and I appreciate the difficulty, only the map tends to get easier as you go. You basically conquer one area then move to the next, when your ready. It's a very systematic rpg and very tedious. I only wish there was well...more to it. It's basically a hack and slash with interesting properties. The idea that you need lights (tho I wish the lights were much cheaper)...the o2 I think it is (gas)...the fact that enemies are at a good difficulty...but it's too same-same. Adding some more spells or something, some other things to kill...just something more.

It's fine, a bit dark.

I heard there was an epic ending.
I've never had the patience to finish this, anyone could report me what happens after the boring hack'n'slash part?

Kinda not very interesting. Pitch Dark, with enemies that rape (zealots and hydras) and flares that you can't hold that barely light anything at all. I'm sure you can beat the map, but it doesn't appear worth the effort at all. Complete dark doesn't really = fun.

Wow, thanks for fixing this---I really missed it when that last patch came out. Awesome!!

Craftstar2 wrote on Sep 30 2008, 11:20 pm:
This map is way too hard and random at the beginning. The money system is flawed. If you get lucky and get enough money for the weapon upgrade at the beginning, it's easy, but if you don't you need to rm.

payne wrote on Sep 17 2008, 8:45 pm:
That's kinda stupid... noobs on B.net won't ever know that's it,s only playable as P2... so spreading this map would serve to absolutely nothing -.-

Moose wrote on Sep 15 2008, 11:58 pm:
That isn't a bug. It's intended, so that you are not able to play the map in Single Player.
The fix was the stacked text in the title.

payne wrote on Jun 2 2008, 10:21 pm:
This ain't fixed at all:
It is still playable only as player 2 :'(

Great map.

Sorrow_Faith wrote on May 31 2008, 9:11 pm:
Havn't seen this map in a long time, anyhow, another good addition to rpgs. money system is slightly flawed though, one time i killed approximately 100 enemies before getting +2 gold...

payne wrote on May 30 2008, 9:08 pm:
This means it's playable with 4 players now? And do not need to play it alone as player 2?! :D

Sweeet, the DLDB lacked this map badly :)

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
[2026-6-20. : 3:47 pm]
NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
