ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"

Rockz, I mean the actual effects. Like damage and stuff like that. And names and description. I guess not the effects but the actual spells themselves.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Spell Name: Call down Battlecruiser strike
Spell Description: makes a bc to shoot your enemies
Spell Triggers:

Trigger 1
Conditions: w/e
Actions: Create 1 BC at player

Spell Name: Non tactical nuke
Spell Description: a much larger and more devastating nuke.
Spell Triggers:

Trigger 1
Conditions: Bring dropship + unload perhaps?
Actions: Center location on dropship
kill all units in location (probably ground only)

Other ideas: use multiple larger locations, with a slight delay in time to simulate the explosion. Alternatively, make a "circular" area with 4+ locations.

Mmm, I'd like more original spells. And spells that would be centered around the main hero without bringing a different unit. It is set up like there are 5 units at the top and you hotkey them and when you want to cast a spell you select the unit and a + click. Thus making it move. Then it gets reset back to original location and the spell is cast and the appropiate mana is lost. I don't want anything that has a unit name in the title because the RPG I'm making is in the past like 1900-1950 and there are no spaceships. So think of different spells please like that I can use explosions and it will deal damage.

Edit: I think I might have to use a vHP system to deal the damage because there is no way to make a unit lose a certain amount of hp. Creating a unit, letting it attack, removing I don't want. So I'll just use a vHP system.

Create a mobile grid, placing locations around your hero, then order an observer to move from location to location, so it is circling the main unit, then create a burrowed lurker, and move it under the observer constantly, and constantly ordering it to move too, this will create a half-burrowed lurker circling your unit!

What exactly doe's that accomplish? A trap, or a shield? Or just an Effect?

An effect, then you could also kill any units that touch the observer :)

A spell that sets up a mobile grid around your hero's unit, and creates 4 crystals around them, it also freezes all units in the area by moving them to a location outside the map, then the player can pick a direction to throw an explosion by moving towards the crystal he wants to throw in the direction of.

Lol, these are all spells that were in Random Quest RPG, but since I quit making it, I guess you can take them :P

A spell that sends out three observer missles, all three will go after a single unit in the area by centering a location on it and ordering them to it, and if one reaches the unit, it explodes and kills it, and the other two go after any other enemies in the area, if there are none, they simply explode.

K, can I take a look at that map? I want some more ideas.

Lol, good luck interpreting it, that's the main reason I gave up, I didn't give deaths names, or add comments or anything, and after not working on it for a little while I forgot what everything was.

Enjoy :) The first two towns work completely, except the boss of the second town is incomplete.

Falkoner, I can't send you a PM because it is full and all so sorry for double posting since edits do not bump I made a new post

In the observer spell, how would I go about creating it?

None.

Aug 5 2008, 3:20 pm Falkoner Post #17

In my map, since it was 1-player I had 3 different players, so each one could have an observer, but in your case I assume you can't spare computers so easily, so what you would have to do is simply run a location through them, as in, center a location on one, give it to another player, order it, center it on another one, then when you go through them the second time you do it the opposite way. You have to center a location on one enemy when you order them, and you can detect when they touch that enemy by an observer entering the location around the enemy.

Sending scarabs out from the player is a must for an rpg. It looks sexy and powerful and manly.
You could do it using falkoner's mobile grid thing with the crystals to aim it, or it could be self aiming. (As long as the enemy is also an enemy to the computer owning the scarabs.)

Holy Light, lots of spider mine and dropship explosions, and have firebat sprites stacked onto your hero, making a sort of melee ranged damage spell.

(Lightning, Holy) Shield: A science vessel casts defensive matrix on your hero. You could either have a computer do this, or just create one for the player, and tell the player to manually cast defensive matrix.

Pacify: Disruption Web, again, either have the player manually cast it, or have the computer cast it, then move the d web to where ever you need it.

Decay, Rot, whatever you want to call it: Irradiated air units circle around an area, causing damage to nearby units.

Mirror Image/Split: Create a hallucinated version of your hero, or, if your hero character has multiple of similar units (ie. zealot, Fenix, or raynor, marine) they have less damage and life.

Penitence/Tether: Maelstrom a unit or several units.

Freeze: Have an arbiter cast stasis, and you could use your vHP system to deal damage over time to the units.

That's it for now.

Good Ideas, keep them coming.

And on the Shield spell, how do I make it cast it on the player. What event tells the computer to cast it on it?

Edit: Sticky can I have your MSN please so I can talk to you?

The hero has to have 50% or less of its health left, and has to be either allied or owned by the computer. I'm not sure, but if the hero is attacking something, it will cause the science vessel to use it more definately.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless
[2024-5-06. : 5:02 am]
Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[2024-5-06. : 12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
