2. In around 7 hours (if my timemath is correct) NASA is going to hold a press conference "to Announce Success of Long Galactic Hunt"

Are they connected? Conspiracy Theorists must be creaming themselves. Will the world ever be the same after today?
None.
Connecting them: Nasa accelerates pope to another galaxy?
OMG IT MUST BE!
Honestly though, I don't think any connection exists. Things just happen more quickly in todays world.
None.
I don't expect much to happen, I just thought it was interesting that three "Scifi-ish, for lack of a better word, occurred on pretty much the same day.
Theres a lot of speculation about NASA's announcement, it could be something amazing like detection of dark matter or similar, that could help to progress current Astrophysical understanding to a new level. (I'm kinda excited, can you tell?).

Are you as excited as we were the day before SC2 was announced?

Holy crap. Turns out they have detected some pretty crazy stuff. Crazy radio waves and a potentially life supporting planet (based on what we know about planet formation) have been found lining up. The radio waves they're sending out are from a long time ago, but it's a sure shot at intelligent life. This will definitely change how we think about the world.
Edit: It's weird to think about how these things existed in ages past, and are likely dead now. I think this will inspire the creation of a more powerful telescope to see directly on the planet's surface (if such power can exist).

May 14th was also when an Einstein letter was published expressing his beliefs that "Jews are not chosen people" and that he "does not believe in God."

LinkNo, they found a supernova, as you would know if you actually read the link you posted.

Think he was trying to be funny.
