New Characters:
Vladimir Osipov (pretty much random - I'll decide on real name later)
Wraith squadron commander from the UED who now leads pretty much all that remains of the UED expeditionary fleet. Uses hit-and-run tactics against the Terran Dominion.
Admiral Olthuis (also, temporary)
Self-proclaimed Admiral of dutch origin is the richest single human in the galaxy. He specializes in armed trade and design and is almost single-handedly responsible for the Confederacy getting access to UED weapon and ship designs which had given the Dominion a chance against the expeditionary fleet. He is also the owner the Procyon Industries, responsible for the creation of the Banshee and other, earlier weapon and ship designs. He's the SC equivalent of Bill Gates + whoever leads the US army these days.
Story:
Admiral Olthuis is meeting Mengsk - Procyon industries has developed a prototype ship called the 'Phantom', which is to be used as a formal replacement to the Wraith. It's faster, slightly lighter armored, but with far better offensive capabilities. Best of all, it's cheaper then a Wraith. While the prototype is be transferred for Mengsk to decide whether he wants to order moar or not (this is how people buy stuff in SC), Raynor's Raiders appear out of nowhere and quickly overwhelm and destroy the two transacting Battlecruisers and the groups of Wraiths near them. Quickly retreating, the raiders are nevertheless pursued by Procyon Battlecruisers. After a battle or two and planet jumps, Raynor's Raiders appear above Chau Sara. Sending a distress call to any allies that might be listening, they descend onto the blasted planet's surface (Chau Sara was charred by the Protoss equivalent of nukes). Procyon Battlecruisers follow, and after a ground fight where, of course, Raynor wins, the fleet retreats. Olthuis's personal Battlecruiser arrives, and he gives the order to incinerate the Raiders from orbit. Sending a hundred Ragnarok-class missiles (step up from Apocalypse-class) to completely destroy the raiders.
Raynor and some of his raiders manage to get back to the ships in time and get off the planets surface. Olthuis's radar reports that a small Protoss fleet, as well as a slightly larger zerg fleet are approaching Chau Sara. Instead of destroying the Raiders that were barely off the surface, Olthuis fired Psi Emitters (with Khayadrin crystal power sources - no Ghost required!) at the Hyperion and had his fleet escape. Soon after, the small Protoss fleet, headed by Zeratul and summoned by the distress call. He happened to be close because he was looking for remains of the Xel'Naga at the nearby planet of Mar Sara.
(This is where it gets far-fetched, and even though its the best part, it'll probably get scrapped because of lore incompatibility)
As the dust clears around Chau Sara, Raynor and Zeratul train their eyes on the devastation caused - and see a hole with no end in sight. The Hyperion gets closer to see wtf there is a hole there. As it slowly enters the cavity in the planet, the Hyperion is wracked as if it had struck a wall, though the radar showed nothing ahead. After a few moments, it stilled.
Honestly, I'm not sure what goes here. My idea was for the last remaining Xel'Naga to be living inside Chau Sara, with the actual visible planet being not much more then dust and dirt on top of a force field of incredible power. I have no idea how the Xel'Naga look like or what kind of technology they had, so I can't really do anything else here. Hopefully, there'll be a lengthy discussion of how no one must ever underestimate the Zerg based on their reliance on massing, since the adaptable Zerg can bioengineer about anything. And then, the zerg force arrives and you defend the Xel'Naga against them.
As for Osipov, my idea for a character was, at first, just a revolutionary against the Terran Dominion, then my idea became of him being part of the UED (you gotta love those guys). I was hoping for him to meet Selendis (Protoss Executor) and for some reason given whatever it is Zealots where that teleports them back when they get badly hurt. I read that the official reason for Zealots bursting into blue flames was that they were instantly transported back to become dragoons. Then, when the Zerg unveil a gigantic space-faring creature that's the biological equivalent of the Star Wars Death Star, Osipov does something and suicides his ship against the creature, and though everyone thinks him dead, Selendis takes him, has surgeons repair his body, and puts him into statis to use later. So the next Protoss leader isn't completely virtuous .
The thing I like was how everything seemed to mesh together. I wanted a Protoss fleet to rescue Raynor, and the first name that popped into my head. I also wanted the Xel'Naga to be inside the planet. Whoop-di-doo, Zeratul also wants the Xel'Naga. Well, it's just a rough draft. I will, of course, never actually do this, but I wish I could.
What about you guys? Any ideas? Something you'd like to do?
EDIT: Huh. Maybe I'll integrate the SEN Protectorate somewhere. I mean, SEN has to be in the actual SC universe. Different meaning, though. Or... a terraforming corporation! Staredit Network!
