Seeing as how lively the WoW thread is, I'm curious what, if any, addons people use. For those unfamiliar, addons are user-created programs that modify your interface, give you data, and otherwise just improve the play experience. WoW was designed for custom addons, and installation is as simple as moving the addon's folder into the Interface\AddOns folder in your WoW directory.

There are a number of sites to find addons, such as WoW Ace and WoW Interface, but my favorite is Curse due to its screenshots, overview, categories, search function, and user comments.

I am currently using:

Cartographer: One of the best map addons you can get. It'll store and display the locations of vendors, trainers, and quests on the minimap, you can set waypoints, and a whole mess of other features.

MetaHud: This will display your health and mana as curved bars near your character so you don't have to keep eyeballing the upper left corner. Your target's health and mana are displayed next to your own, so it's easy to compare how you're doing.

MobInfo2: Awesome mod that actively calculates an enemy's actual health by the damage you do to it, then displays the result. Also keeps tabs on what that mob drops and the frequency of those drops, among other handy features.

InFlight: Tells you how long a flight will take and creates a nice little time bar during flights so you know how long you have to go pee or cook dinner. =oD

GrimoireKeeper: For Warlocks, it makes Demon tomes simpler by color-coding them according to whether your pet already knows the ability or if they can learn it.

That's all I'm using at the moment, though considering grabbing Fubar or Titan Panel. Auctioneer is also a fantastic mod if you use the Auction House. So, what do you use?

I'm not a very big fan of using addons. I currently just have CT_MapMod, but I'd use some sort of threatmeter and DeadlyBossMod if I was to play it more, but I get tired of the game after three weeks of play :P

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I use way too many to list, but here's a screenshot of my UI at the moment. Keep in mind it is a work in progress:

Basically that has FuBar, eePanels2, CyCircled, Bongos, X-Perl Unit Frames, SW Stats, Phanx Chat, Omen, some buff bar mod, and a ton of other smaller things.

Relatively ancient and inactive

I just started yesterday, but so far I have: Atlas, Fubar, Auction Filter, Auditor2, Bagnon, Mik's Scrolling Battle Text, Omen, Pitbull, Bartender 3, Recount, UberQuest, AdvancedTradeSkillWindow, RicoMiniMap, Natur Enemy casting bars, LoadIT, Cartographer.

Recommend a good chat mod that basically lets me scroll up/down (at minimum), and if possible allows me to link to items I don't have. Also, I need a pimping casting bar.

None.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

PhanxChat lets you scroll up and down using the mouse wheel thingy. It also lets you shorten channel names and display character names based on class color/level.

As for linking items you don't have, Atlasloot Enhanced can do that.

My cast bar came with Bongos so I can't help ya there.

Err.. I mean, so you can do this [itemname] and it auto-links. I think I had a mod like that before. I'll try Phanx chat.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Ohhhh, I thought you meant link-clicking on a list of items to show up in chat. I'm not sure which mod you're talking about, though. Hmm...

wth is starcraft

I used to use Nurfed UI...and that was it. But then when they brought the new patch out I got impatient. Not that it matters anyways, I quit playing like a week ago.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
