JamaL sent to me this,
Quote
You need to come to our clan's channel, (Clan Oo,) and bring a map that you've created. Show one of our recruiters the map, and we'll rate it. If it is of good enough quality, (at least 40 out of 50,) we will let you in.

I hope to see you there.
And I sent to him this,
Quote
I can be there on this weekend. thank you! see you later!

Anyway, Can I sign up this clan?
Clan Oo is very famous in Korea.
I really want to sign up.

I can show you the map named "CooL Universe" on this weekend.
I mean this saturday, but I don't know exactly time.

p.s.
I'm living in Korea.

I've been in and out of your channel on East earlier. Much talk about nothing xD
Is a WIP map okay?

Mar 25 2008, 1:25 pm JamaL Post #8

I have no idea what a 'WIP-map' is.

It has to be UMS - meaning, it has triggers.

If you'd like to see how we grade, check out the 'Official Rating Categories' topic (it's pinned).

WIP being Work In Progress.
It's a UMS, and it's nearly complete, as it stands, it's fully playable with a few tweaks and additions, is that okay?

Mar 25 2008, 3:27 pm Twitch Post #10

Ahhh ok candle I get you well we have let one or two people in with a WIP map but, under certain reasons we knew they would finish and the map/maps they had shown were just wow.
So if you want your map graded at is best I would finish it first.

Hokay. The satellite system does add a lot of epic...
*mumbles to himself about why the hypertriggers should go die*

I think that Oo grades a little too easily (just my opinion and my experience with Oo) and I think that a map shouldn't really be graded on if it's complete or not nor should it be graded on "what's to come" if a map has some good decent systems that arn't present in the majority of maps seen, then they have passed triggering, for stuff like terrain, good use of isometric terrain should do it, extended terrain really is useless. Concepts and Originality stuff like that, well any map that isn't a remake is deemed atleast 1 original.

Now I am not saying that Oo rates how I would rate, nor should they, but I think that your rating system could do with some minor recalibration D:

Mar 26 2008, 4:26 am Twitch Post #13

Well if you have a problem with our rating you for one should have not posted in this topic and two made better points :P.
I say that because,I think you look at our system the wrong way or what I have said.
We grade each thing as it should be in our minds(heck if we didn't have a mind how could we grade).
So triggers we go ok there are simple triggers all through this map I am calling this a 4 on triggers O wait I just now notice alot of better triggers that gives hum a few more pints making 7 or 8.
For terrain well we basically do what you said :P we judge on what they do with the terrian.Like defense maps usually have rec. terrain with pics so any neat designs get points.
And so forth.
Originality,Jamal had explained that in the grading topic we have to be a bit easy on that due to about everything being found lol.Although hey there are some things still able to be original ;).

So yeah I think our grading system is just fine if it needs any tuning up I think we would have done it awhile back.

I think you kinda missed a really important point anyway.
Where's the gameplay rating?
If I were rating, I'd throw terrain and triggers out the window if the guy can't make a map that's fun.
And if I played a map with epic gameplay, but obviously poor terrain and simplistic triggers, I'd still rate it well.
That said, trigger skill and terrain should be important things to keep in mind, but gameplay really is no. 1 concern people.

Twitch I did not make a detailed critique on your current rating system, I simply said I found it that you rated too easily, I further included general suggestions that may benefit you into doing specific tweaks. As for your point on how I should suggest a better system, really you want me to remake the system and say "this is my template on how to rate" which would involve me further going beyond my needs to benefit yours. who Oo lets in and who they deny is not up to me, and nor should the system in which decides, however when I judged for a contest and only two maps were submitted they were given low marks by both the other judge and I and then there was an uproar of "blasphemy" and how the maps instead of deserving marks such as 22 and 29 out of 50 they deserved stuff like 44/50. We did not mark biased because it was Oo we marked on how we felt each person had done, I was more leniant then the other judge however when we rated them together we did come to the reasonably same conclusions.

And now for candle12345. Indeed gameplay is a big thing and I did not disclude it for any specific reasons, however I just did not include it.

@Echo: There are, currently, six members on Starcraft in the channel. There are others that are not in the clan as well.

I know we're not the grand Oo of old - but we're still alive and kicking. Don't consider us dead yet.

Activity in the summer is much better, anyway.

@Shocko: I know, our system isn't perfect. It is hard to come up with a system that fairly judges each aspect of the map and fulfills the requirements of the clan.

I try not to be easy on attempting recruits, as what we're looking for is quality, not quantity. I don't care if our clan needs more member and activity, it's going to die if our members don't know what the hell they're doing.

We don't need to have this discussion, anyway. Finding problems but not solutions is a horrible thing. Never complain unless you can suggest a better idea.

The suggestion is a re-vamp, what you're now asking is that I re-vamp for you.

That is similar to not liking our system of government, and suggesting a revamping be done. They understand your situation, but they are, most likely, happy with what they've already done or they can't think of something better. If you find fault with the system, then make a slight suggestion as to what should be changed. They can then expand upon your idea and re-do it themselves.

You need to re-vamp your leadership that's not a question...
Solar is inactive for months then comes on for a week just to play Oo Sniper or Oo Ball then he's gone.
You all hold grudges for small things D:
There is plenty room for improvement, right now you're letting in people that can do the bare minimum, and yet the people that put in the maximum are hardly getting better grading then those with minimal effort. You COULD CONSIDER having multiple rating systems depending on what rank the person would like to start out at, then this will in turn change the difficulty of the testing.
