Hmm someone i have to pay but is defiantly good or someone who is lesser but is easier to maintain...
-Ask the boy what types of weapon is he good at... get 1 weapon according to this if none stated find a dagger for the boy to sheath under his clothing... also make sure its weighted so that it can be thrown in a pinch. -now i want to go around the market to get some lightweight armor... some kind of leather? At the same time have the person sew on a pocket for bolts and modify the clothing (so that it allows sheath daggers to be used if i bought them) (pocket for both of use unless it ruins the enchantment) -Get a crossbow... Make sure its at least fair quality highly durable crossbow;

"Return to this world?" Athenos started, amused, "You make it seem like I'll be leaving it." He chuckled. No, he couldn't leave this world by the hands of this ascended one; it was beyond her power.
"Tell me, councilor, where can I find this ranger? We need to make haste."
Ask the 2nd boy mentioned than follow the above protocol and in either scenario send home the first boy.
Edit : tell him I'll compensate him with 1 gold piece every week, the necessary armors, weapons, cover his traveling expenses, and teach him the skill of the mad scientist.

Estaphon measured Athenos, hesitating to answer. "Rangers and huntsmen move often, and I dare say you will not find many of their kind here in Astron with all the commotion. But I know that on the southern side of Rallos there's a pub named the Limping Stag, you'd have a good chance finding a ranger there that can lead you to Pryti's home."
Dan approaches Martin, offering to take him on his journey for a generous sum of money and equipment. "I appreciate the offer," Martin says, falling behind his friends, "but I can't leave town until I take care of Bill. It just wouldn't be right for me to....hey, do you think you could give me a hand?"
"Alright, well this tavern right here," Martin says, pointing up at the tavern he was just kicked out of, named 'Tanner's Pub,' "it's doing something bad. Something very wrong. And the guard over there on the other side of the street," he said, now pointing to a young man flirting in guard regalia with a cute barmaid, "he knows something about it, but he refuses to say anything to anyone, and I don't know why. I - I thought maybe if I became a bard, I could sneak in and..." he trailed off suddenly, "...but it's already been four months and I need to get back...but I can't leave until I fix this," he said exasperatedly, waving his hand at the guard and barmaid, "I don't have much time. Please I'm begging you. If you help me in this I will do whatever it is that you require of me."
Dan walks into the pub the guard is standing in front of and finds the most attractive barmaid he sees and stops her. Offering five gold simply to flirt with a man out front, the barmaid steps out into the sunlight. The barmaid halts suddenly, "you want me to flirt with him? I don't think so," she says, backing into the pub again. You look over at the guard, who is now being accosted by a large, burly man from the pub Martin had been kicked out of. Behind him was the barmaid the guard had been flirting with earlier. "If I catch you near my daughter again, you twit," the burly man was saying. The attractive girl was distraught, "I'll rip you to pieces. And don't think I have forgotten our agreement. You will to risk that?"
"You can't threaten me, I...hey get back here!" But the man had already walked back into the pub, the barmaid following him sullenly. Dan turns to the other barmaid.
"That's William Tanner, he runs the pub across the street. He's got something on that guard be beats me what it is. Says he's holding up his transfer papers as a result. Tanner family is big in Astron, can't get past them, they run half the countryside." She shrugged, going back into her own bar.
-Look at the guard and judge by his weight how much drink he can handle and how drunk he is right now. Than buy him a couple drinks saying something i just wanted to the show the guards some appreciation. Get him drunk to the point of him telling me his secrets but not that point at which he passes out.
Dan walks up to the guard and says, "you look a little pale, like you could use a drink." The guard looks around carefully.
"Who are you? Are you hanging out with that Martin boy? I don't know anything I don't need any help..." the guard says defensively, his voice loud enough for Martin to hear.
"I don't want anything from you, I was just stating that...."
"Fine, I'll meet you after I'm done for the night. My shift is over at sun down. I'll meet you in the Three of Hearts Pub - the one just outside the gates - tonight. We'll talk more but it isn't safe to talk here." The guard walks off without another word. Martin walks over to Dan.
"Alright! You did it!" Martin says excitedly. "The Three of Hearts Pub is shady, much shadier than Tanner's pub. No offense but you don't look like you could hold up in another fight, and I might be good with a slingshot but I wouldn't dare go against thugs of that caliber...we need to find back up."
Athenos turned and left to his quarters and gathered his things, checking to make sure everything was in order and taking great care to maintain his equipment. He shimmered his armor away and donned just the cloak over modest forest gear. Taking a glimpse at himself in the mirror he couldn't help but think he looked like just a young hunter.
He rolled the thought over in his head for a moment before making a decision. He grabbed his things and made way to the armory. Once there, he picked a humble looking short bow and a quiver with a few arrows, if only to make his appearance more genuine. He need not draw attention to himself, lest people be watching him.
Giving a quick scan to ensure no one suspicious was looking, he put up his hood and left the castle grounds.
Say to martin along the lines of this is going to expensive to hire someone to protect us unforunatly if i do hire someone i might have to lower your pay to 1 gold a month.

If he declines go back to the market looking for bandages and anything medical If he accepts look for 2 men/women who can hold themselves in a fight... when we go into the bar tell the people guarding me to stay with martin about 5 feet behind me and sit down near enough so if i get into trouble they can help but far enough not to raise suspicion (around 7 - 12 feet) Tell them all to avoid alcoholic beverages and anything that will impair function. Go and talk to the guard.
Rozen is starting to fatigue from the practice. Looking around, he's noticed that the princess is no longer with them.
Athenos puts his things together, grabbed a simple bow and some arrows, and left. He had just left the castle grounds when he realizes someone has been following him, a small frame also shrouded. Athenos turns and waits, the character not speaking until she is right next to him.. "You're leaving, then. You're going to go find Pryti, aren't you?" Aleiya said quietly. A patrolling guard starts to near them. Aleiya pulls her hood up and continues walking, bidding Athenos to follow her out of ear shot. They do not travel far before she stops again. "If I stay here...I think I'll die," she says, "and without any protection, I know I will. The Queen doesn't listen to my pleas for protection, and the others...well, what I'm trying to say is, can I come with you? Please?"
Dan searches throughout Astron for some strong arms to protect him. He does not have a lot of luck as the sun begins to set, and so heads back towards the castle, hoping to find a guard. He sees Athenos ahead of him, talking to a cloaked figure, who quickly steps away as he nears. Dan propositions Athenos, asking him to serve as a covert body guard during discussions that night.
Athenos eyed her for a second before starting to giggle. She was lying, but it was so terrible of a lie he found it quite silly.
"Admit it, you just thirst for adventure and excitement," he said bluntly with a tone of amusement.
The idea of taking her along with him was something he had considered before, but he was in debate whether it was safer with him or in the castle, surely not all the guards were trustworthy. But this may provide a unique opportunity.
"Alright you can come. Stay close, and act natural," he whispered.
The princess looked defiantly at Athenos. "I thought you were the only who'd believe me, but fine," she whispered harshly, "maybe Rozen will be more understanding." They followed Dan and Martin through the marketplace and guild districts to the pub on the outskirts of town. Near Astron's gate Athenos noticed a figure following them. He found he was unable to catch a glimpse of them, they were too swift and obviously knew the city and it's shadows well. He glanced at the princess, but she was fully covered. It would be a blind stab in the dark to believe that she was anymore than a woman walking with Athenos. He noticed her hands were clammy, and she was flexing them compulsively. "Please, believe me," she said quietly, her eyes searching to her left and right. The figure darted behind them again, this time closer. Over confidence radiated from their follower.
They entered the pub the guard had indicated. It was brightly lit, with two bards playing a loud, crude song near the fire. The boisterous crowd laughed and sang along with them. Everyone there seemed to have at least a scar, many of which were quite disfigured in one way or another - a missing hand there, an eyepatch their. They appraised the clean cut crew with mild interest, measuring their worth. Martin led them to a quiet table in the corner. Dan sat with him, and Athenos and the Princess sat at a table just close enough that they could hear but far enough that they didn't look immediately related. Athenos faced the door and occupants, starting to realize they stuck out like a sore thumb. On several occasions he caught people looking at them, pointing. The person that had been following them had not entered the pub yet, and there was no sign of the guard. "It'll still be a little bit until dusk," Martin said just loud enough for both tables to hear.
At the very least, as soon as Dan was done with his fool's errand he - and if the princess still wished, she looked quite nervous in this place - could discreetly leave without any awkward questions from the city guards. A heavyset barmaid came up to Athenos then, "Hey," she said gruffly as she sat done a pint of meed in front of Athenos, "the man over there bought you a drink." Athenos nodded gruffly and grunted, making brief eye contact with the man before he had turned away. Athenos appraised him. He was not the figure that had been following them into the pub, he was someone quite unrelated.
People milled in and out of the bar. Still no sign of the guard, nor of the person that had followed them.
Dan looks nervously from his table to the door, tapping his fingers slightly. "He'll be here," Martin said, looking slightly less nervous than Dan. "He has to be..."
Athenos eyed the drink in front of him suspiciously. He did not partake in alcohol frequently, and only wines. Although, he did not wish to appear inhospitable to the stranger. He pretended to take a sip of the beverage, despite its unappealing smell.
He needed to think, but not here. His attention must be in the moment. He whispered in the princess's ear for her to follow him, and went to the bar before asking for a room, blushing. The bartender handed him a key and winked. It was playing out well.
He entered the room with the princess on the floor above. It was a little bit less than meager, providing only the most simple of amenities, but good enough. Locking the door after the princess entered he removed his hood and looked at her.
