Until now this hasn't become a issue, however the editor is being a bitch. My question is how to get units to use upgrades? More specifically I am using several campaign units including firebat, and war pigs. Neither use upgrades.

Help would be GREATLY appreciated, I am having a very difficult time trying to get it to work.

Are you talking about adding learnable upgrades to buildings and have then affect units, or just how to add units to existing upgrades?

If you want to create an Upgrade that modifies specific values on a unit/ability/behavior/effect from scratch, do the following:
Basically create an Upgrade and set all the changes it makes under "Upgrade: Effects+" (including the units it affects in there as well).

If you want to add units to an existing Upgrade that modifies Armor or Damage, do the following:
Select the Upgrade you want to modify the unit. Find "Upgrade: Effects +" and double click the space next to it (which will most likely say Add|Add|Add|Add, etc.). Right click in the box of the window that pops up and select "Add Effect." Now select "Unit" in the "Type:" dropdown. Next to "Object:" select the unit you want to modify. In the box next to "Field:" change whatever values you want the Upgrade to modify on the unit.

If you want to create an Ability that lets you learn your custom Upgrade, do the following:
Go to the Abilities tab. Add a new Ability with the "Research" type. Now double click on the space next to "Ability: Info+. Right click on "Research 01" and select "Modify Command..." Here you can change the button of the upgrade, requirements for the Upgrade (if any), the monetary and time costs of the Upgrade, and the name of the Upgrade itself. Once the Ability is created, find whatever building you want to use as the place that you can research the Upgrade from. Add the new Ability to it (from "Ability: Abilities +"). Now on that building's command card, add a new button for the Upgrade, set the Ability for that button to your new research Ability, and set the command to the Upgrade that should be learned.

I can give a more specific explanation if you tell me what you want the Upgrade for.

Thank you very much! Got them to use the upgrade! However it changes the damage but doesn't update the button, I.E [0] to [1]. So unless you put the cursor over there weapon to check damage you won't know the upgrade took place.

Also how do you make the 3 leveled upgrades up to lets say 10?

EDIT:

I take that back, it WAS working, but now magically its not working at all. You make it sound so simple, yet when I do it, it doesn't turn out to work properly, and the armor uses actors (Huh?) I tried adding firebat for armor, but that doesn't work either.

For 3 leveled upgrades:
Create an Upgrade of type "Armor Bonus".
Set "Upgrade: Max Level" to 1.
Under "Upgrade: Effects+" add a new effect. Type: Unit. Object: Firebat. Field: Life Armor. Operation: Add. Value: 1 (or whatever).
Now add another effect. Type: Unit. Object: Firebat. Field: Life Armor Level. Operation: Add. Value: 1 (or whatever you used for the above addition).
The actor modification changes the armor icon on the unit. So add another new effect. Type: Actor. Object: Firebat. Field: Life Armor Icon. Operation: Set. Value: Whatever icon you want to use for the Firebat's armor.
Now do this again for the level 2 and 3 upgrades.

Next go to the Research Ability. Add all 3 Upgrades to this ability (i.e. Research 01 will be Firebat Armor Level 1, Research 01 will be Firebat Armor Level 2, Research 03 will be Firebat Armor Level 3).

Now go to your upgrade building that has this research ability on it. On the command card, find the square that has your upgrade button. Under "Buttons:" make sure you have 3 buttons listed. If not, click that green X on the right of the box until you have 3.
On the top-most button, set the Command Type to Ability Command. Ability will be your Research Ability. Ability Command will be the Firebat Armor Level 1 (or whatever you called it).
Now put Firebat Armor Level 2 on the second button from the top.
And finally put the Firebat Armor Level 3 on the bottom button.

Sadly the fix I stated only works for terrans.. All other ones you have to manually add, I attempt to do the exact same thing as the others, I add the effect, damage, and unit, yet the upgrades refuse to work for the new units... Terrans aren't a issue, but its getting new units from zerg and toss to use upgrades :/ I find it grossly retarded they made special upgrades to fit all terran units just for terrans.

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
