I'll be short.

I use youtube and have an olllldd account that is set to always login. It has tons of subscriptions, likes, favorites, and all of that.

I made a gmail account for applying to colleges.

Youtube and Gmail both use Gmail accounts, but I can't be logged into both at once. I am in a bad habit of checking my email. I need a program that allows me to log in and check my Gmail from outside of my browser, preferably something I can have turn on at startup. It has to not use the... is it cookies?... that youtube uses to check what account wants to log in.

Thanks.

Also why is this thread in Lite Discussion and not Computers and Technology?

If you don't mind just having another web browser window for it and aren't already using Google Chrome, you could install that, install the Gmail "app", and use the right-click options on the app part of the new tab page to open it in a window (to hide the toolbar and tab bar) and create a shortcut for it. When running it in Chrome, you can also go into your Gmail settings and enable popup notifications when you receive new messages, if you like that sort of thing. If you are already using Chrome, you can make a special shortcut that uses a different profile then follow those steps.

If you need a different profile, make a copy of your Google Chrome shortcut and add this to the end of the target line:
Code
--user-data-dir="C:\custom\profile\path"

Replace the path with what you actually want and be sure there is a space before the --user-data-dir. The Chrome app page will correctly add this to any shortcuts you make to apps while on that profile.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

It's not "outside of your browser" like you requested, instead it's in your browser (which makes things easier imo) but I like web mail notifier since it's a lightweight plugin that keeps you informed about new mails.
It "requires" however to have a decent web interface for you preferred email provider to really shine.

If you like navigating your gmail web interface and you use either Firefox, Chrome or Opera (gg IE users) then this is for you. No need for bloatware.
