If people can spend hundreds of dollars on random stuff that doesn't even help them live I don't see why you can't spend $$$ on the iiPhone.
If it makes someone happy and does not harm anyone else around them, then why not?
If they have the money let them spend it. It's their money afterall.

The iPhone is pretty nifty I might add. It makes you look cool. :D

This smells of troll. Besides, if you hate it so much, then go buy a Voyager.

I agree, if having an iPhone makes them happy, so be it. I'm fine with not having an iPhone, and I don't give a rat's ass about teh phone. I'm good without any of these things.. And as much as I dislike Sony, I think the PSP is a lot better... same with the NDS, except I'm too lazy to hack it.

I also think that most people who get an iPhone are really just people who like the attention of people going "OMFG YOU HAVE AN iPhone?!#!#!!?!#?!??!?!@!#?"

Do you have something against buying luxeries, in that case?

You didn't seem to have a problem with luxeries when it was the Nintendo DS and its perhepials.

@Hynk, why can't people who get the iPhone get it because it's a good phone, hmm?

I'm not saying it's the only reason why they get it, or in that person's case it may not be the reason why they get it. It's just what I think. Since, according to some, having the iPhone 'makes you look cool', plus most people I know haven't even seen an iPhone. You could get other phones with the same features, or most of them anyway, as an iPhone for a cheaper price. That doesn't mean the quality may be up to par. Everyone has their own opinions, and these are mine. I just don't think the iPhone is worth the price.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft came up with their own gimmick version of the iPhone like they did with the iPod (Microsoft version being the Zune).

If you have to jailbreak a phone to use a carrier of your choosing, it isn't a good phone.

Good, the Zune far exceeded the iPod. Thus the Nokia E70 must already far exceed that of the iPhone.

If you have to jailbreak a phone to use a carrier of your choosing, it isn't a good phone.
There are handfuls of phones that are limited to one carrier and require work in order to work with other carriers.

Still, the iPhone is good regardless of that. I know you're more level minded to base whether a phone is good or not based on something like that. Is being limited to carriers a good thing? Of course not, and it doesnt definitely factor in when considering the iPhone, but make or break it, I don't think so.

I'm pretty sure you don't like Apple, Syphon, so if you want to bash them, make a thread about the Macbook Air, I can join in on that too :)

As far as the Nokia phone mentioned in that article from Maddox, I don't know it's numbers sold but..

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/15/apples-sold-4-million-iphones-since-launch/

The iPhone is doing rather well, no?

I'm pretty sure that Syphon was just adding to the various good points against the iPhone.

Let's talk about applications if you don't think any of our previous points are legitimate. Only Apple is able to make programs for the iPhone; making your phone a hostage to Apple.

Other points:
The screen gets smudged.
Its overkill in the phone department.
Price.
Providers.
Keyboard.
Applications.
Storage space.
Battery.
Annoying group of idiots that will flock to you if you own one.

That is irrelavent. The amount is so high becuase its more of a fasion statement then a phone. People just flock to it like sheep.

Although the screen is rather smudgy, the screen is bright enough where when looking at it directly, the smudges aren't even noticable.

Overkill in the phone department? Since when was having more a problem? Even if it was, could you explain how it's overkill? It's more than a phone, anyway.

Price for a phone, maybe. Price for what it offers, and how it offers it, it has been proven in this thread that it is not so overly priced. The price has also dropped a bit from release, if that matters to you.

Providers is true, but even then jailbreaking is an option.

Keyboard is just different, I wouldn't call it neccesarilly bad. Definitely has a learning curve, but I think at this point it's better than a lot of phones.

Storage space? Can you find me a phone that has even similar storage space?

Battery life is actually better than competing phones. proof here http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2007/06/18iphone.html

Annoying group of idiots that will PRAISE YOU AS GOD if you own one. But I'll just consider this a joke anyway, unless you want me to start arguing about the iPhone and how it raises your e-peen level significantly or something..

I'm not sure how you say that line is irrelevant, it was in response to

Apple is just full of shenanigans. I mean iPhone is one of the worst things that have made yet. What's next?
The iWatch? A wrist watch that tracks time and can conveniently play music? All for just $299 + $60 dollars to get the battery replaced!

Also with the help of the homebrew community, you can turn your DS into a phone!

The iWatch would make a great replacement for the iPod shuffle. I'm sick of looking for places to clip it.

Where can you find a phone for 20 dollars that has music, internet, phone and "working camera" capabillities.

ANSWER :: NOWHERE
False. The phone I have. The W580i. I think it was $50. Let's say I'm an expensive little ho and my plan is $60 a month (Like iPhone). Add the iPod Nano I got off my brother for $70 when he got the iPod Touch, that's $120 for TWO music players, a phone, and an "Internet device." $280 cheaper than an iPhone, even with my wrong estimate of my phone bill. "But there's no touch screen," you say.
... What's your point?

lol, find me online where it says your phone is 50 dollars if you even want me to consider that number. I don't feel like looking it up, but "I think it was $50" holds no ground in my books ;)

2nd, a lot of phones can browse the internet, not a lot of phones can browse the internet like the iPhone. You can try comparing your little W580i with it's tiny screen and lack of qwerty keyboard to the iPhone, but in reality, there is really no comparison. Not to mention you're not getting an iPod Nano 8gb for 70$.

And once again, the iPhone offers more than what any ordinary phone and a mp3 player does, in a smaller form factor, etc. It also does it things better, too.

And finally, I'm really tired of having to deal with people saying "LOOK MY ____ can do _____, JUST LIKE THE iPhone, except it costs less!""

Seriously, your little gadget can't perform the tasks the iPhone does at the iPhones level. For example, that little DS phone junk that JordanN thinks is remarkable or something. Jesus. And how does recieving calls in that thing work, just wondering? LOLZ

Why don't you all make threads about how snowblowers suck too, and how you'd much rather have a shovel. Maybe you might actually have some experience with a snowblower this time around, because obviously none of you have even used an iPhone if you think a DS is a well suited substitute.

If you think a DS and a regular phone is better than an iPhone, you may never have seen one. They're the most amazing handheld device I've seen, far better than a DS or PSP.

Also, since nobody said this yet, I will. Jordan, you're arrogant and thick headed. You take how much "consumerism" you have, ++ it, and call anyone who spends that much a moron. You think "oh mp3 plus phone + (sort of) internet = iPhone." It doesn't. Maybe you're just jealous. Either way, you need to lay off people who have an iPhone instead of calling them idiots. It's just not nice.
