If you want to host a game of terraria you just go to multi player and start a server. When you do that terraria will say "Waiting for clients". That instance of terraria is the server, you have to open a second instance of terraria to join your own server. The port is 31337.

And then you can go to whatsmyip.com ro check out your IP and that's it.

Alright, hosting a new world today. Besides, I did one quick look-see before I decided whether or not it was good... A quarter of the map is Underground Jungle. If anyone was wondering how this worked, it seems in my experience the dungeon is on one end and the underground jungle, beneath the other.

Anyway, I think I will wait for more people to sign on before I host. Also Cardinal, I hate you for taking me from early game to... Done. I feel absent now... I might just start a new character.

Lols, I didn't take you anywhere, that armor was for MZ. You just happened to AFK where I dropped the goodies.

I might start a new char also. By the way I got an Ivy Whip and 2 Grappling Hooks, and 5 sets of Hellstone Armor, 4 sets of Necro Armor, a full set of Cobalt Armour... and that's after I sold all the junk to the merchant so I can go TnT whoring (see my post)

If you can host in offline mode, I could host a server on my server system, which I leave running 24/7. Any idea how much bandwidth it requires?

No one likes using hamachi.

I think a shadowflare server would be an awesome alternative when Lovel's goes offline.

It doesn't look like it supports host names yet for some reason. If it did (or when it does), you could just type sfrealm.hopto.org instead of the IP address.

Sorry guys, been running a private server with me and sam as new characters so we can keep the game feeling fresh. We take our sweet sweet time and it's still fun. Try wearing no armor for the entire game, it's a cute challenge.

Anyway, I feel like exploring the UJ with Cardinal and guess what? Created a map that has over a quarter the place of UJ.

I will use this as our do whatever and fuck around world for now though. Well our first one anyway, kind of a farming world. I will revert to our first world as the place in which we congregate as a whole on a more permanent basis.

Expect me to launch the farm world soon.

Why not? Is it because everyone needs to use Hamachi to enter??

If you can forward TCP port 31337, Hamachi isn't necessary for anyone connecting.

oh man, got my ivy whip, had a lot of fun today in Lovel's server.

edit: finally beat Skeletron, only used Starfury and Demon Bow to beat him too. Raped him the second time I beat him because I increased the amount of platforms I had to fight him on from 4 to 7. so easy to shoot arrows when you just drop down platforms to avoid his attacks, also got hit WAY less.
