Alright, I'm not gonne beat around the bush here. No substitutes, nothing.

So, at the moment, and for a while now, my life is basically meaningless. I serve no purpose, I have no visible future, nothing. I'm only good at video games, and sometimes I wonder about even that. I want to spend my life playing videos games, and that's all. I've dropped out of school, I'm now 18 and I could be thrown out at any time (though it's not really been brought up). I have no job, don't even have my permit, let alone drivers license. No girlfriend, and I don't even want one.

I plan on dieing sometime soon. No, not because I'm suicidal, I just feel like my time is coming in the near future. I'm actually content with my life as is right now. But I know eventually I'm gonna be thrown out, or my parents will become too old to be my care-takers, etc.

In reality, all I want to do is play games my entire life, but I know that's not gonna be the case. I am a very lazy person and getting a job would be rather difficult in my position. I once had a dream of becoming a video game designer, but that's faded pretty far by now. I'd be lucky to get a single job as is, let alone an apartment and be able to take care of myself, along with getting internet and electricity.

In other words, I'm okay with my present, but worried about my future. So what do you, my closest friends, think I should do?

Stop being a leech and do some honest work.

What did you drop out of? Highschool? Cept I have a mom who is really passive and doesn't care that much about what I do and I can pretty much have a guaranteed place to stay for the rest of my life as long as she doesn't die or get fired from the factory she works at. I'm still planning on getting an education and stuff though.

If I dropped out of highschool right now I'd be in that same exact boat as you brah. If I knew you and we were actually cool IRL I'd suggest we both get minimum wage jobs and live in apartment together and split the costs :3

I'm not trying to be a moral fag or anything but I really don't think you have it that hard. I think my position is worse because I value social things like having friends and caring about what other people think way too much. I have something that's slowly eating at me from the inside and killing my social life. Being the agnostic "I don't really care about half the things that happen around me" guy. I really don't care about what happens. Suicide isn't really so bad. I'll die and some people around me will feel sad but I won't be around to feel guilt. So living or dying feels indifferent man. I just choose to want to do something just because I'm 100% sure if I get something done it'll lead to more time I'll be able to use to hang out.

Don't take life so seriously brah. Just let it happen. Don't fight it. Birds gotta fly. Fish gotta swim. Nyahaha~


Would you like us to plan your life for your or something? Cool. What do you like to do? No matter what you are still going to need to at least have some enthusiasm. Try to be cynical about it at least. Life isn't that hard if you know some tricks and tips. SEN will handle it for you.

Whether life is meaningless or not is irrelevant (we all know it is).

If you're really that worried about your future, I think my most productive suggestion would be to look long and hard for something else besides video games that you enjoy doing, and try to make something out of it. Find something else in which you can play your strengths.
In this case, try really really hard to find something interesting. Go outside and talk a walk in whatever city/town/village you live. If you're in a small, close-knit community, I don't think it would be too difficult to at least gather some empathy and do odd jobs and shit. Larger community, you just need to be on the look out for job postings and shit - get a job as a cashier at a video game store?

Local libraries/community centres should be very helpful in getting your act together. They should frequently host or advertise free, job finding lessons and programs. Hell, you could also just ask the people who work there for these kinds of things (or maybe get a job there????). If you stick to it, something will probably come up eventually; the chances that something happens is practically infinitely great than the chances of nothing happening.
In this case, having connections with lots of people is good. If you have a Facebook account, start using it, and ask random people's pages. The worst that will happen is you get no answer at all (unless you're still in the death-before-dishonour stage of your life - lol).

While you're searching for something interesting (job as a librarian? Honestly, I'd take that - maybe), make sure you also know your own strengths and weaknesses. If you're especially good at arbitrary rules and regulations and arithmetic, you might want to consider going to a public college to train as an accounting clerk or similar; these people make at least a decent wage to get by on, and AFAIK, they don't actually have to do much in the way of physical activity (in my case, this solves my dislike for physical activity).

I dunno man, do you really want to do something? If you do, I can help more, but if you don't, then my best advice is to just end your life pleasantly, (I guess).

The fact that he made this thread before doing any research on careers in posting makes me wonder if his will is up to it. I mean there are people who are useless NEETs and are too lazy to commit suicide. Well I'll assume you are being modest and that before this thread gets locked or dies you'll leave with a "Thanks guys. I know what I want to do with the rest of my life"

I am in the same situation in regards of the future: I have absolutely no idea what I'll be good for. I am very wise and intelligent, but I'm too lazy to try to apply anything anywhere (beside everything that happens in my mind, which is probably very high above the normal).
I know I love computers, games, outdoor, social life as much as solitude, maths, music, and procrastinating. I don't care at all about money, too.

Currently, I'm intending to do something related to computers; probably game programmer or I might want to try to create my extreme-outdoor company and be my own web-master. For sure, as a pass-time, I'll want to try to create music at some point in my life: I have too many concepts in my head to not try to exploit at least one.

So as you can see, I just tried to depict my strengths/likes (not necessarily the same!) and find a job related to as many as I can.

God, SEN is depressing.

Get a GED or finish high school, get into college, and work from there. Pretty simple. Worst comes to worst and you have no money to go to a good college (assuming you get in), go to a cheap community/state college and get a job to pay for it. NJ has Rutgers, which is pretty uncompetitive to get into and is actually fairly good. And free for NJ residents, I believe. Your state may have something similar.

Pick up pottery and join the priesthood.

It's even more depressing with someone like me that has desirable goals that are impossible, socially unacceptable, or otherwise incredibly difficult to meet without severe repercussions.

If you don't think you can handle a part of yourself dieing (shut up it fucking happens every time to everyone who has ever joined the military), then apply to every bank in town for an entry level teller position. You'll be able to live the average life you desire.

Take a 1 semester long "teach English Abroad" certification class, and get paid to teach basic English in foreign countries. Don't expect to get into Japan though.

School will be a waste of time and money for you.
