SC2 Map Management?

Ok, Im a bit confused about how SC2 handles its maps. It does appear that some maps are stored locally, as in the editor, there is the option to download a map, and it stays downloaded regardless of if you save a file or not. Now, there doesnt seem to be a way to remove these "downloaded" maps from your computer, and I dont see exactly where theyre stored.

I tried using ProcMon to track sc2editor.exe as I "download" a map file, but all it seems to do is mess around with the battle.net cache, which is impossible to decipher. Does anyone know how to delete a map, or where the map files are stored? Geez, why cant they just keep it simple? lol

Btw, I need to delete maps because some of the ones I got are unplayable because no variants were set -.-

Blizzard didn't keep it simple because they want complete control over everything sc2 related.
Afaik battle.net cache is the place where the maps are saved and they seem to be split up into different files and folders. Maybe you can find files that belong together according to their creation/modified date? My information is based on the beta. If they changed this then sorry.

What really bugs me is that you can't just run a local map as a custom gametype (except from the editor), making campaign-creation impossible.

Yeah...they certainly didnt keep it simple. Does the cache ever get cleaned, or does it keep piling up with new maps? Id like to delete a couple maps, but it doesnt seem that I can. Im guessing splitting the files up and giving them huge, confusing names is meant to allow them to charge for maps and prevent people from simply copying them?

NudeRaider -- PSA: ASUS apparently decided their RMA department needs to "become profitable" and for a while now outright tries to scam customers. They were called out on it a year ago, promised to change, but didn't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pMrssIrKcY so my recommendation: Stop buying ASUS, and if you already have and need something RMA'd, make sure to not let them bully you into paying.
