this is going to be an ongoing attempt for me to learn how to use galaxy edit. im going to have lots of questions about different things in the editor, so it doesnt fit in the other forums.
first off:

solved 1 how can i make lava lethal to ground units?
solved 2 how do i change water/lava heights during play?
3 how can i make water non-walkable, without using pathing, because the height will change. but i still need some ground units to be able to navigate it.
4 how could i add an effect to a weapon that stuns a % change upon inflicting damage to health?
solved 5 why dont my custom units show weapon effects? as in, mothership is attacking, with no sound or attack models coming from it.
6 is there a way to add an extra value to a unit to use as an ammo counter, like a second energy bar? i need to be able to do this to dozens of different non-unique units simultaneously, so i dont think triggers would work.

thats all for now, but im going to update this with new questions instead of spamming the forums

I made a little demonstration map for 1 and 2.

1. You have to make a periodic function that picks all the units in the map/region where lava is that can be killed by the lava, and kills that unit if the ground height at that unit is lower than a constant, or some defined variable (which is demonstrated in the map don't worry!).

2. This one is kind of tricky. The alternate water state box is really buggy for some reason (for me at least).
- First, what you have to do is go to the water tool in your terrain layer, and place some lava or whatever in your map.
- Then, click on "Edit Water", and change the settings for your lava to where you want the lava to be initially.
- Then, you're going to have to right click in that white area that's on the left, and add 2 alternate water states. Don't edit them yet.
- Close the "Edit Water" box by hitting OK, and then open it up again. If one of your alternate water states stayed, good. If not, repeat.
- Pick the alternate water state that is visible in the white area on the left, and change the height of the lava to what you want it to end up at. Press OK.
- Now go into your trigger editor, and make an action "Set Water State". Just put what you want to change the lava to (your alternate state, NOT the blank one),
and set the duration.

3. I'm not sure you can do something like that, at least not with what I know of the editor. If you're killing things that enter lava, then you wouldn't have to worry about this. As for the water.... hopefully someone else has a clever idea.

4,5,6. I'm not too great at the data editor. I'll try messing around with these a little and I'll add later what I come up with.

i got the lava to move, but it turns out that my water states are also totally bugged. every time i went into edit water the states would all be gone and i would have to redo all of them and my triggers, which is annoying.

9 how could i create weapons that will strike and damage anything that incercepts the projectile?
10 is there a simple way to create weapons that richochet? i dont have the know-how to make my own effects or actors or most of what is required

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
