Hello,

I am looking for a way to customize the minimap / navbar / bottom toolbar (not sure what you call it) on the Starcraft 1 interface

Does anyone know a way to do this?

At the very least, I'd like to be able to change the colors of the minimap as well as the colors of the alerts, so that alerts are invisible (alternatively, does anybody know of a way to get rid of the alerts?)

Ideally, I'd love to be able to completely remove the minimap, and customize features of the bottom toolbar

Thanks in advance for ideas / recommendations!

I think rez\minimap.bin and rez\gamemenu.bin are the files you need to modify. Extract them from Stardat.mpq with any winmpq or pympq, then edit them with binedit or something.

Don't forget that resizing the UI won't reveal any more of the map (game screen is fixed 640x400). The UI is composed of several parts: The minimap, the buttons, the portrait, the Menu button, and the stat data (unit stats, wireframe, progress). Each of these has its own BIN file.

If by alerts you mean the minimap ping, there is a GRP graphic somewhere in the MPQ file. Many UI elements also have additional GRPs associated with them as well.

I'm not really a modder, so I appologize for not providing much detail.

This is interesting. But once you modify it, it's necessary to make a custom patch, right? :ermm:

Yeah, you'll need to make a mod in order to make your changes work. Although in this case, since it's just a graphics change, it SHOULD work on b.net, even with others without the mod. I could be wrong, though.
