This hideous, broken staircase that's supposed to allow one to get from the very high part to the dirt ground, doesn't seem very lovely as of now.
What I would like to do is to fix all the blocks, while blending the cliff with the staircase.
I've tried many tiles, but it just doesn't seem to blend at all.

Now, the question is:
Does anyone have a brilliant idea of which tiles I could use to prevent the overuse of sprites? Or are sprites the only way to go?

This is what I mean by overuse of sprites, AND blockiness.

Is your goal here to make a giant stair case up, or do you mainly just want a giant ramp?

My goal here is to make a curved ramp-like staircase with hand railings (I don't know if that makes sense) that looks like the image I posted.
But as you can see, it doesn't look great due to is blockiness.

So basically, I want it like that, except without the small blocks.

my attempt. Blocky I know, but I'm too lazy to work on it more right now XD

:O
That just crippled my mind.
Except one thing; are there any room for improvements in your attempt?

I'd like to use it in my map, if you don't mind.

There is always room for improvements, you just have to find them :P

I'll PM you the map file.

Dang, Howler, that's impressive, and although it's a bit blocky, nothing a few sprites can't cover, eh? :P It's a TON better than I'd expect out of most Temple blends, Temple is nasty..

Psh, it's temple, I don't expect anyone to make perfect blends with Temple.

Err, after changing a few things from Howler's example, it became like so:

It looks somewhat deformed, but at least I got it to connect with the bridge..
Yup, notice the change in the right railings.. Tried to create something new out of it, but that's the best one I've got :-(

Beautiful.

Ohh that looks nice. Don't forget about the tiles underneath the railing though. It makes it blend to the cliff better in my opinion.

but it's entirely up to you :)

There's only a few people who actually terrain anymore :(

Maybe is it because of the extensive time required to actually learn how to make good terrain, no matter how much I try, it takes me hours (with a 'S') to make a 10*10 extended terrain section, and its days to polish it, I don't have time for that.

I taught myself and read some tutorials by falkoner I believe. It's actually very simple, it just requires a bit of effort and intelligence (like putting a puzzle together).

I must say that this staircase ramp is very sexy indeed.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
