Mafia Kills Two, Retakes the Streets

In a brazen attack last night, Gotham mob members exerted their growing power and struck deep into the heart of the town. Prominent city councilman Ashamed was murdered in his bed despite a police guard at his house. Police detectives are still somewhat unsure as to exactly what took place, but the department is in shock that one of its own officers was struck down in the line of duty. As a consolation, they feel, at least we have heard no more from Batman or the Joker. Despite this, the department has made a renewed commitment to eradicating the mafia.

It was unusually cold for the time of year last night, and one witness says she saw a uniformed man going to check the pipes at 12:30 last night. What followed this remains unknown, but forensic evidence indicated that two men took part in the assault. Neighbors, when questioned, said that they heard several gunshots, although exactly how many is again unclear. When police responded to a call a little after two, they found the body of Officer dumbducky in an alley beside the house, with several bullets in him. Upon entering the house, they found the body of Ashamed in bed, his face with a pattern of thirteen strangely unique bullets drilled into it.
