Is it me or is SC2 and Smash brothers brawl acting in the same way. Both games are making it look noob friendly. I mean the sensor tower is great and all but now it pretty much gets rid of the tactic of suprise. It's not that great when "aha I'm gonna drop behind his base without him knowing" but then with the sensor tower it pretty much reads "don't bother trying because I know your coming.".

Its just you.

Explanation: The very best it will do is reduce the time between when your troops come to help and when they get there. Players will still need to keep a close eye on the mini map to see this. Also, players should be scouting ahead of time of a drop or attack so they should see these sort of things and plan ahead to avoid them.

Now noobs? Noobs don't scout, they don't watch their mini-map. And most noobs don't build missile towers (or in this case it would be a sensor tower) till its too late. Only experienced players (people who start to know what to expect and what to prepare for in a game) do this sort of stuff.

I have no idea why you think the new smash bros is like that. I don't see anything advertising to noobs.

If you're not going to dignify me with your side of the argument in the form of a well worded response then don't bother posting.

JordanN just saw me say "No" to some really stupid shit one time, and decided to copy me. Unfortunately he doesn't actually know how it works and used such a response in a totally wrong manner. I am thrilled he looks up to me, though. Crikey.

I didn't get it from you. In fact I didn't copy it from anyone and nor do I look up to you. Please try again.

Pretty much was going to do that but "no" just summarized it in one word.

The only thing "no" accomplished was making you look like an idiot. Either you're saying "no, I wont argue my side of this" or "no, I concede defeat". Which is it?

This game is getting more alike Red Alert.

Oct 25 2007, 4:41 am chuiu Post #12

Red Alert had radars that let you see enemy unit locations in the fog? Are you sure?

I like the new building. I don't think this is being like Red Alert at all but if you think so then that is your opinion. They say though that this gives the player more of a notice on the people around him? I don't think so, you get like 2 seconds to react to a bunch of people swarming into your base, but it is something else that we must all deal with, lol

They had sensors that should where the enemies were coming from and shows the map.

Oh, well that sucks. To be honest I really don't like the idea of the Sensor Tower. I liked my detection and anti-air being compacted into one building. Now Terran will have a distinct disadvantage to Protoss whose cannons still detect and attack both air and ground (as far as we know) and Zerg Overlords and Spore colonies who are still detectors (again, as far as we know).

Nobody said the missile tower won't detect.

If you guys actually played melee a lot, you'd know that a lot of things look unfair at first glance. Lurkers, Carrier Swarms, Tanks, Zergling rush etc.

Once you play though, you realize everything balances out. Every race has a prominent feature. Protoss have the most bang for your buck defense. Terrans have the flat out best potential defense between bunkers, tanks and turrets. Zerg have automatic detection with the Overlords.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, the tower really doesn't have that great a range. You guys are overreacting. It's a new gameplay element. If you guys can't handle that, stay at home when SC2 comes out.

I can' remember where, but yes Blizzard has stated the Missile Turret cannot detect cloaked enemies. What they have done is allowed any missile turret within the range of a sensor tower the ability to detect cloaked enemies, which is a lame solution for crippling Terrans. And yes, removing detection from the Missile Turret is a huge hit to the way the game is balanced. I can only hope that they reduce the cost of the Turret and Sensor Tower so building them in groups doesn't hurt income.

Or the terrans could have another detection abilities. You do notice that they divide the tech for HTs and DTs now? And besides, if people could pull out tanks and mines before any DTs came to your base in the first melee. I don't see why it can't be done for sensor towers. It's like in the beginning of your tech tree, mind you.

Its not a problem of tech tree, its a problem of utility.

Look, you haven't even seen everything yet. You can't look at one unit and say the game is unbalanced, in the same way that you can't look at one piece of a jigsaw puzzle and say the whole thing looks like the Eifell tower with a bucket of pudding on top and the NY Yankees playing at the base.

It doesn't seem like that big of deal anyway. I mean, build one tower in the middle of your base and detection all around. Sounds pretty decent to me.
