So I just got a new laptop that had Windows XP Pro installed on it. I used to run Ubuntu, but I had video setting problems on my old computer with linux so Im giving up on that for now.

Im disgusted with the lack of ability to easily change the theme on my desktop and was wondering if anyone knew of any slick themes I could download for XP Pro. I had something with black or silver in mind. I just want to get away from this : [attach=4383]

Also, any decent music/media players that people suggest would be nice. I heard songbird was pretty sweet, but I have yet to try it.
Any ideas?

Try:
http://customize.org/xpthemes

To use them you're going to need the UXtheme Multi-Patcher.

Just download the theme from the site and then go to Start -> My Computer -> C: -> Windows -> Resources -> themes.
Extract the theme, put it in there, and then double click the .msstyles file or other executable file.

I suggest that you backup your system before you install the UXtheme Multi-Patcher or download a new theme.

This theme's my favorite:

The sword and the faith

I'm personally using the UX Patcher and a fake black vista skin. Working quite nicely thus far.
